Thank God. Let the past be the past.

And I say this as a huge fan of Twin Peaks.

Disagree, Lynch should have a hand in it.

His creativity and mark needs to be on his material.

A new person will just try to be "like Lynch", and will fail.

You miss my point. I don't think they should remake it all.

The problem with going back to these seminal shows is that we've been inundated with films and series that are the offspring of Twin Peaks. The Silence of the Lambs series of films, X-Files, Northern Exposure, and all of the strange, quirky community TV series that followed.

Difficult to go back to a groundbreaking series and get that same thrill again.

I disagree. The original will always be the original. If Lynch swings and misses, so what? Don't watch. You will still have the first season to cherish. I get excited when Lynch comes out with anything.

I think that we can all agree that if Lynch is not involved, this project should be over.

Lynch is back!

quote:

Last month, word broke that cult director and “Twin Peaks” co-creator David Lynch was bowing out of the revival series that was set to air on Showtime citing issues with negotiations. Tonight, Lynch has revealed that the revival is back on and he will in fact be back for the series.

“Dear Twitter Friends, the rumors are not what they seem,” he wrote on Twitter. “It is !!!Happening again. #TwinPeaks returns on Showtime.”

Showtime president David Nevins also chimed in, confirming the news and revealing that they’ve expanded their initial nine-episode order for the series.

“This damn fine cup of coffee from Mark and David tastes more delicious than ever,” Nevins writes. “Totally worth the extra brewing time and the cup is even bigger than we expected. David will direct the whole thing which will total more than the originally announced nine hours. Preproduction starts now!!”

Co-creator Mark Frost and Lynch have reportedly already completed the initial nine scripts, though there is no official word on how many more episodes have been ordered. Lynch is set to direct every episode of the third season revival.

“Twin Peaks” followed the inhabitants of a quaint northwestern town who were stunned after their homecoming queen Laura Palmer is shockingly murdered. The town’s sheriff welcomed the help of FBI agent Dale Cooper, who came to town to investigate the case. As Cooper conducted his search for Laura’s killer, the town’s secrets were gradually exposed. The mystery that ensued set off an eerie chain of events that plunged the inhabitants of Twin Peaks into a darker examination of their very existence. Twenty-five years later, the story continues…

I agree. Much of what made Twin Peaks strangely unique back in it's day would no longer be unique today IMO.
