I've been reading the book and I think I'm gonna give the movie a rewatch tonight. I haven't seen it seen it since I was 8 or 9 and back then I thought it was great. I have a feeling that may not hold up tonight. What's the board's opinion on the movie version?

ETA: obligatory "Amy good gorilla"

I know it scared the crap out of me as a kid. I was too scared to walk to the deer stand in the dark for like a month after I saw it

doubt it would hold up that well today, still would be a fun watch though

Is that the movie with the crazy looking blue apes who lived in a pit full of diamonds or some shite?

I saw it when it came out and thought it sucked (even as a kid). I just remember gorillas jumping in lava and the black dude from Ghostbusters.

The movie is ok. I like the cast more than anything. The special effects weren't the greatest even when it first came out.

It's moderately different from the book though so you may be disappointed in some of the (IMO needless) changes.

It scared the living shite out of me when I was a kid, but it was one of my favorite movies. I rewatched it a few wks ago and it doesnt hold up well at all. Instead of being scared of apes, all I thought about was wanting to bang Laura Linney.

Saw it in the theater and thought it was hilariously bad.

I love the movie. I probably watch it once a year. Those grey gorillas are badass.

Only thing that pops into my head when this movie is mentioned is "We are watching you". I say that from time to time, but nobody knows what the hell I'm referencing.

the movie is a good rainy day popcorn flick for me. I throw it in the same category as National Treasure and The Mummy. nothing great but its entertaining
