Just watched this movie for the first time ever. Spectacular movie, very hard to watch but worth it. It may require a re-watch in the near future.

Question - is the sequel City of Men any good or not worth watching?

It's more of a spiritual successor than a true sequel. Kind of like the Oldboy to Lady Vengeance stuff..

It's good. If you enjoyed City of God as a 10 of 10 , I am sure you would enjoy City of Men at about a 7 of 10.

I didn't know there was a sequel and have no interest in watching it. City of God is a great movie, though.

It's not like a sequel.. It's like Oldboy to Lady Vengeance and Mr Vengeance. (which I enjoy all 3! because i enjoy this style)

It's a different timeline and story. It's no where near as good as City of God, but it's "decent", however I would not really recommend it. I would recommend all of the 3 movies previously mentioned tho.

One of the big movies on my list that I have yet to see. I have very high expectations for it from the praise this board has given it.

Still #1 on my favorite movies of all time. I have never had another movie stick with as this one has.

You'll probably be disappointed now. It's a great movie, but now, you're expecting too much.

Kinda surprised there hasn't been an American remake yet.

I would suggest Sin Nombre too if you haven't seen it already. It's not on the same level as City of God per se but it has the same rawness.

I would suggest Carandiru and Elite Sqaud 1 & 2 before Sin Nombre (good movie)

City of God is definitely one of the best films ever made. It's easily my favorite foreign language movie.

City of God was interesting, but it was no Menace II Society.
