I think some of Ferrell's Funny or Die stuff have been his best work.

That and his Ricky Bobby portrayals.

I just see Ferrel as a carbon copy of the same character in all of his movies. You pretty much know exactly what youre getting with how his character will play out

That argument can be made for Chevy Chase also

Stars as in what? O,Keefe sure if you just count on screen camera time. When I think of the 'stars' of a comedy, I think of the people that actually made the movie funny.

As in the main character of the story, which by and large are O'Keefe and Dangerfield...Mugatu and Frank the Tank were the funniest characters in Zoolander and Old School.

ETA: I'll add his HBO special about George W. Bush in there as well.

Those 5 beat the best 5 of Chase and Ferrel in my opinion.

Carrey is the most talented physical comedian ever.

I like his comedy but Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind is one of my favorite movies of all time.

Wait, are people actually serious when they say dumb shite like "Ferrell > Chase and it's not even close"?

Are you referring to talent or who you think is funnier? Or are you referring to who has better movies? Talent is not close.

Well, of coarse the younger generation is mostly going to like Ferrell movies better while the majority of the older generation is going to like Chase movies better. Why would you be surprised by that?

Not really a fair comparison. Chevy was nowhere the star that guys like Eddie Murphy, Bill Murray & even John Belushi (a couple of years) were.

Eddie Murphy & Bill Murray > Will Ferrell

from the OP:

and WF is going to be a very polarizing comedian to rank. some people think he's incredibly funny and others think he's just not that funny at all.

I can't believe people have mentioned "Elf" in a positive manner. I made it 20 minutes into that dreck before I turned it off.

Having said that, "Talladega Nights" is one of my favorite comedies ever and is easily WF's best work.

Oh, and CC>WF

Sants's elf, race car driver, Brash anchorman, etc, etc.

Yeah you're pretty much wrong on that assessment. Some of his roles are similar, but certainly a far cry from "carbon copy."
