I always figured that at the end he went back to the farm of the lady that stopped and gave him directions and they end up together. Opinions?

Thank god for good directions

3. With his sailing background, he should've easily built a much more stable raft to get off the island.

One thing I liked was how they showed how difficult it is to do things like build fire or crack a coconut or catch a fish.

That must not have sunk in for you if you think he can build a good boat because he used to sail. You probably drive a car every day, but I doubt you could build a decent gocart witn nothing but desert island material and an ice skate.

I didn't say the boat was complete shite. Just that it could've been stronger is all.

For example, if he would've basket woven those long branches into pontoons & stuffed a ton of coconuts inside for added buoyancy. He also could've woven branches with the stronger limbs to save on the rope usage.

I enjoy it too. My only complaint about that movie is that there's no other life on that island, at all. In four years.

We see him chase down a live crab but you never see any birds roosting there or anything. Just a weird thing I noticed.

Overall though I do like that movie.

I remember distinctly watching this movie with a girl, a very special girl, on a couch back in 2003. I remember it like it just happened last year. In that scene, after that last line above when Chuck slowly backs away, she broke down and cried.

The feels are strong with this great movie. Tom Hanks is devastating.

watched the movie in a theater and it makes me nostalgic for that time in my life. oh by the way its a great fricking movie also starring one of the greatest actors ever.

Helen Hunt telling Hanks "you're the love of my life" is heartbreaking. Reminds me somewhat of The Age of Innocence and The Remains of the Day, in that the two leads love each other but are kept apart.

My son is a sophomore in HS and had a Film Studies class this fall. It was his favorite of the movies they watched. I have always liked it...not my favorite, but still an excellent movie.

Watching now. When I was younger I always thought the Wilson scene was the saddest part. Now that I'm older I think it's the driveway scene in the rain when he has to say goodbye to Kelly.

I love the ending with him standing at the crossroads, much like he was at a crossroads in his life.

I still believe he turns around and goes back to lady with wings on truck and creates a life with her.

Same. I saw where she had separated from her husband as well over the 4 years Hanks was gone. It would just make sense.

Robert Redford tried to do the same thing a couple of years ago with, "all is lost". Terribly dreadful movie. It's not like Redford is a shite actor... He just couldn't pull it off.

I thought Tom Hardy pulled it off rather well in Locke.
