I liked the movie and thought Hanks did an outstanding job.

That said, the line 'I love you Kelly. More than you will ever know' is poorly delivered IMO.

This is one of my guilty pleasures as well.

Yeah, I cried a little when he lost Wilson and I got deep feels when he learned Helen Hunt moved on.

It's a deep movie. Makes my top 10 list.

I haven't seen it in years, but now I want to see it again. I'll probably try to make it happen during LSU's open date.

I honestly can't stand it. I watched it one time and almost didn't finish it that time.

I always figured that at the end he went back to the farm of the lady that stopped and gave him directions and they end up together. Opinions?

The guy talking to him right before the "fishing" guy is Jenny's boyfriend in Forrest Gump that he beats the shite out of at the Black Panther Party.

I swear he's still scared of Hanks too

That being said, this is one of my all-time favorite movies. It made me go through the entire range of human emotions. From hurried and anixious to scared, lonely, hopeless. Then hopeful, courageous, and finally optimistic. Also one of the only movies that is better with the extended scenes included in the feature.

That guy was also one of the bike cops in Men At Work.

Bump.

Few questions after watching at least 5 times:

1. Did Chuck ever tell Fed Ex that he buried the pilot on the island? Would the family or company gone to exume him for a proper burial at home?

2. How were mosquitoes or bugs of some sort not an issue for him on the island? Every survival show I've ever seen in a tropical setting has unbearable mosquitoes.

3. With his sailing background, he should've easily built a much more stable raft to get off the island.

4. He would've also known to build large signal fires & stationed them all over the island for whenever he saw a ship plane.

Yes he did. Watch the end. He looked back that way. The Iron Rod with Dick and Bettina at the beginning of the movie didn't have Dick at the end. She lived on the road that headed to nowhere like the island he lived on. And she was a hottie.

It may have. If you watch in the next scene he is eating that fish on the other side of his mouth.

Pretty sure I remember them taking a casket off of the plan when Hanks lands. Could be wrong.

It was held together with video tape, and lasted quite a while on the open seas through storms.

Just watched the scene and saw no casket get offloaded. It went from interior of the plane in flight to a quick clip of Fred Smith welcoming Chuck home, to Chuck walking in that room to see Helen Hunt's husband.

That endontist or whatever had an ill fitting suit and drove a meh Camry. Maybe this indicates he is not good at his job, and his shitty root canal was why Chuck had to bust out that tooth.

Fun fact: Wilson had a cameo appearance in Dodgeball.

Cast Away movie
is cast away the most white male movie ever?

Seriously?

THAT's what you take from this movie?

I have no hope for the product of this politically correct safe space fricked up culture.

- I'm sure he told them about the pilot's body. No idea if they went to retrieve it.

2. How were mosquitoes or bugs of some sort not an issue for him on the island? Every survival show I've ever seen in a tropical setting has unbearable mosquitoes.

- If the island is based on volcanic rock then there's a very good chance there are no mosquitos. Volcanic rock has a very low PH and standing water leaches the base from the rock, making for a water puddle that mosquito larva can't live in. St. Lucia is like this. I hiked all through the jungles there and never got bitten once. The ants are motherfrickers though.

3. With his sailing background, he should've easily built a much more stable raft to get off the island.

- have your ever tried to build a structure from natural materials? It's a LOT harder to get sturdy, strong, flexible, and permanent stuff than you see on TV.

4. He would've also known to build large signal fires & stationed them all over the island for whenever he saw a ship plane.

- Didn't he have at least one big signal fire at the top of the peak? Maybe I'm thinking about Arrow...

How do most interpret the ending?

It's my thoughts that his character went back to the redhead's farm after the movie ends and eventually marries her, living out his days in Texas.

Great movie.

Helen Hunt gets a bad rap. She had every reason to believe he was dead and she had to keep living her life.

Also, for some reason, this movie always makes me crave seafood.

I can give you multiple reasons why if the movie lasted 5 more minutes he indeed went back.
I will ask you this. Did you see her? What would you do?

My interpretation is that when he was at the crossroads(very symbolic) he was unsure of where to go in his life next.

The redhead was in a sense an angel/God helping him in making that decision. She said "you look lost" and explained where each way went.

Good movie, but IMO only for 1 viewing all the way through.
