I think it is death hanging over his head with Gus just playing with him.

But why did Gus cordially meet with Hector in the third season if they're such arch enemies? He even apologized to the old guy for not having a wheelchair ramp at the chicken farm.

He's keeping him alive so he can torture him basically, by fricking up the cartel and killing his friends/family and well, keeping him alive.
This television show has so many great angles.

Keep your friends close and your enemies closer? He hadn't gotten his revenge for Max's death yet, at that point.

I still say Ted and Beneke Fabricators are going to figure into Skyler's money laundering plans,
Ted's company is perfect for laundering that amount of money.

Well, he's "taken care of" Hector's twin nephews and Hank took care of another one, so it's going to be interesting to see how this plays out. I'm curious to know how Hector ended up in his current condition. I also want to know why there is no record of Gus in Chile.

If the cartel really wanted Walter dead honestly how hard would it be? And Gus too for that matter. This drug kingpin shows up for work everyday at a fast foot joint. He would easily be killed in real life.

Mike the Ninja wouldn't let that happen.

But to kill and get away with it? Much harder, I think that's why they show the cameras every time anyone goes in there.

But the cartel doesn't care if the guy they send to do it gets away with it. The cartel, at least in real life, is bigger than some disposable hit man. I know it's TV.

Gus always knows when someone is coming, hence all the cameras. I doubt the cartel would catch him unawares. Remember when Walt came there to find him but he was long gone although his car was outside.

I would not be surprised if Gus has a trap door/crawl space that would allow him to escape/hide from his office in Los Pollos Hermanos, in the event of a potential attack on his life. I think he utilized said crawl space to disappear when Walt came looking for him earlier this season and his car was out front.

I did not get the impression that Gus was batting for the other team but perhaps you all are correct. Am I way off the mark in believing they were just business partners?

quote:clarify, exactly what do you mean by other team, the Cartel? in the beginning that may have been the case. but not anymore, that's why he was taunting hector by telling him the stuff he had done to his people.

when Hector was pissing in the pool, he said "they won't tell, they like what they see" and made mocking kissing sounds. That's why some people are thinking they were gay partners and business partners.

Not that there's anything wrong with that!
