This thread is simply OWNED by John Williams. So many other great composers, to be sure, but Williams greatness is simply hard to believe.

You can probably remember most if not all of the iconic themes from these movies:

Fiddler on the Roof
Jaws
Star Wars and all sequels and prequels
Close Encounters of the 3rd Kind
Superman and all sequels
Raiders of the Lost Ark and all sequels
E.T.
Witches of Eastwick
Empire of the Sun
Home Alone
Hook
JFK
Far and Away
Jurassic Park and all sequels
Schindler's List
Saving Private Ryan
Harry Potter (1, 2, and 3)
Catch Me If You Can

And many other great movie themes. He stands shoulder to shoulder with the great classical composers of yore, IMO.

Probably in the minority here, but I've always loved the theme for 'Requiem for a Dream'. I thought it fit the film perfectly.

Great theme but I cannot listen to it anymore with out this mashup.

Lawrence of Arabia is certainly the top of the list, but Chariots of Fire is probably second.

Really?!

NO ONE has mentioned Back to the Future yet?

Man this shite gets me all sorts of excited. Maybe it's just my childhood in musical form, but it can't be beat, IMO.

Close Encounters is pretty cool.

I have a playlist on my phone with nothing but John Williams (and a few others) soundtracks - it's great for workouts.

My bias may be showing due to my love of the movie but I vote for Lonesome Dove.

For me it'll always be the imperial march from star wars. And ill throw in John Murphy's 28 days later theme, in a house in a heartbeat. Two very captivating themes.

One of John Williams earliest themes was as "Johnny Williams" in 1965: "Lost In Space"
