Absolutely. Philip K Dick was an amazing author and died way too young. BladeRunner is Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep? Total Recall is We Can Remember it For You Wholesale. Both are excellent. Minority Report is very good. The Adjustment Team (Bureau) is great. Paycheck is much better than the movie.

All of his stories are ambiguous and deal with themes such as "what is reality? what is humanity?"

For a complete mindfrick read Ubik.

Or if you want to have your world view flipped on it head for a little bit, read VALIS. Dick had some out there beliefs about artificial and collective intelligence. It's worth a read, but it's not easy.

did the Usual Suspects ending make the movie pointless.

It made the entire movie a lie, but not "pointless". I don't think it confirms "Kaiser Sose" was real, but that there was a great criminal mind behind the real attack on the boat.

Top fell in Inception, btw.

Okay, okay technically it didn't.

But it was going to fall.

It doesn't matter...it WASN'T HIS TOTEM. The top was Mal's, and as it was so ominously stated in the film, you should always make your own totem, so that only YOU know how its supposed to feel and act, so you'll know when you are in the real world.

Thanks. I'm gonna check these out.

Oh, and here is another one.

Did the little girl in Pan's Labyrinth actually have magical powers or was it all her imagination to escape the war?

Better way to say it. But that makes some people upset.

Bateman killed those people.
She dropped it on purpose.
Top was going to fall in inception but it didn't matter because Cobb was with his kids which is all he cared about anyway, hence why he didn't wait around with a gun to his head waiting for it to fall, as seen earlier in the movie.

Now if you can explain the end of 2001 a Space oddity in 100 words or less, I will salute you.

Was Total Recall a dream?
No, anything else is speculation.

Did Dottie drop the ball on purpose?
No evidence to support it. Completely shot sown many times on this board.

Inception - Did the top fall?
It was intentionaly ambigious. I'd say yes.

What about her feeling bad after her sister was traded? You know how women are with those emotions and stuff. Makes them do all kinds of crazy things.

one of the best MTV threads ever was the multiple page Dottie dropping the ball thread. really brought out the anger, pitted brother against brother in a pitched battle of the wills...
Funny you mention that thread but don't mention how you are completely wrong in thinking the way you do.

Because although we are in the minority, the Kitt earned it crowd wins this debate hands down. Anything else is complete speculation and is not supported by the movie.

If you would like to bump the thread we can continue, but I don't want to hijack your thread just to say the same stuff I said weeks ago.

Deckard = replicant
TR = dream
Bateman didn't kill anyone.
Haven't watched it in a while, but I don't think Dotty did it on purpose.
Inception, I think it was going to fall.
Usual Suspects reveal didn't lessen the story at all.

I'll add another two:
Did Afflek's character in Gone Baby Gone do the right thing?

Was Lenny in Memento Sammy Jenkins (did he kill his own wife)?

I say yes to both. There's actually a brief moment where Lenny replaces Jenkins in the flashback, so I really don't think it's debatable.

How can you say this? The earlier scene in the movie showed Dottie holding on to the ball during a collision. That scene was put in the movie to show that she was fully capable of taking the hit. Why did Dottie smile while looking back at Kitt who finally got her chance to be the hero?

After that, she leaves, gets half way to Washington state and decides to come back (though I never understood why she left other than dramatic effect, she says she's wants to start a family, but its not like it was mid season, it was the start of the playoff, she can't wait a week to leave?) Anyway, she comes back for game 7, has no problem telling the pitcher Kitt's weakness for high fast balls, has no problem slugging the hit to get the go ahead run, but suddenly we are to believe she just decides to give her sis a break and drops the ball? As I've said many times, if she did, she is the most miserable count on the planet.
