That King Arthur movie, the real story/whatever it was called was a pretty horrible movie. But it had hands-down the best battle sequence ever.

Remember when all those chicks, like 5 of them, was fighting that 6'8 dude with the bear skin? He was throwing them like 20 yards, but they were relentless with the stabbing until he went down. I think he was standing with like 3 of them draped over his back shanking him left and right

I dont get the love for the GoT battle scene, it wasn't that great... There wasn't even a lot of fighting, just mostly people standing around and shots of Jon not doing anything and the whole thing was very long. I woudnt even put it in Top 50.

The continuous shot from the BOTB episodes of GOT was the best shot I have ever witnessed. Way to many things choreographed into that shot.

Band of Brothers has a few that should be in contention. They did such a wonderful job with all of the small details that I imagine war is really like.

-The paratroopers droppings into Nazi occupied France
-The taking of Foy
-The assault at the crossroads in Holland(probably my favorite episode of BoB. So masterfully done.)
-Bastogne
-Carentan
-The Battle of Brécourt Manor

All excellent.

Im not saying it was bad but I have watched it several times and still dont think its anywhere near the top. Just focusing on one guy while everything else is out of focus in the background isn't amazing. Its not even the best battle scene this year in TV, Vikings has better battles almost every episode.

Private Ryan D-Day is the best hands down, but by far the most beautiful and elegant battle scene ever filmed was Barry Lyndon. LINK

Omaha Beach in Saving Private Ryan is the winner hands down. Realism, chaos, gore it had it all.

Two good ones, my favorite though is when 1st Cav, "Air Cav son" attacks Charlies point with the Wagner blaring.

300. The whole movie.
No love for that fabulous Van Damme dance/fight scene in Bloodsport? Or maybe it was Kickboxer. You know the one.

Vikings has never had a battle scene as intense as that one. What struck me was the sheer power displayed by the charging horses. I've never seen charging knights displayed like that, where you can feel the force and violence.

My favorite is one you don't see mentioned that often.

The battle scene where the Roman legionnaires are fighting the Gauls in Rome:

Rome battle scene

After that I'd go with some that have already been mentioned:

Brecourt Mannor (Band of Brothers)

The Season 6, Ep. 9 battle from Game of Thrones.

The Pellinor fields battle from LOTR (as someone said above - until the ghosts attacked. That part almost ruined it).

tLOTR trilogy is a masterpiece, but the swordmanship in Brotherhood of the Wolf trumps it for me

I don't think anyone has mentioned the following that I humbly submit for perusal:

- The ending battle scene to hold the bridge in Saving Private Ryan. That entire encounter was just epic to me. You see so many of the characters die, you witness fear overtake a soldier, you figuratively see a soldier grow and change, you are in the room of brutal hand to hand combat, there are just so many things that are done so well by great actors.

- The storming of the fort scene at the end of Glory with Morgan Freeman, Cary Elwes, Andre Braugher, Denzel Washington, and Matthew Broderick leading the charge to that epic score by James Horner.
