Only two things in that movie were true:

1. There was a team called T.C. Williams that went undefeated in 1971

2. They were coached by a man named Herman Boone

Schindler's list

Though it's based off a book, the book is based off of real life Oskar Schindler.

I really like "In the Valley of Elah" which is based on a true story murder of a dude in the Army. They changed the names and location (from my hometown in Columbus, GA to Albuquerque) but otherwise it was a great movie in my opinion.

Surprised not to see Zero Dark Thirty mentioned

Someone mentioned Man on Fire, and I find that hard to believe, but I'm gonna go down that rabbit hole

LINK

Definite example of bending the story to fit a narrative.

Taking into account reasonable editing and artistic license I thought Blackhawk Down did the troopers, battle and book justice.

The set they filmed the interior scenes in was based off of the actual German U-boat in the Chicago Museum of Science and Industry. At least that's what they told me in 1984.

Pics on a blog: https://www.sarahsundin.com/when-tides-turn-u-boat-tour-part-2-and-giveaway/

Video tour of the U-boat on YouTube Fast forward to 4:45 for interior.

The Emerald Forest

Though they changed the father/son to Americans and added a lot of Hollywood elements, that's still a pretty crazy story.

“Fortress Of War”

The true story about the Red Army’s defense of Brest Fortress in the first battle of Operation Barbarossa. It’s on Prime and that is my favorite based on true story WW2 film.

I really liked the movie “American Made” about the true story of Barry Seal.

I watched American Animals on HBO Now recently and thought it was pretty good. It's about an art heist involving some ambitious but stupid kids. It was interesting how the director had the real life characters play a part in the movie. It opens with:

"This is not based on a true story. This is a true story."
