You should go back and watch that scene I see exactly what he did at the nose of the aircraft to keep that from happening

Damn, I enjoy reading the threads and chiming in from time to time, but EVERY single Superman thread is a shitfest. Maybe people are bashing it because of Zack Snyder, I don't know. I had a ton of problems with MoS, but I also had a ton of problems with TDKR and TDK. I still will flip on MoS when it's on.

As to the trailer, it looks good. Hero Worship, introduction of Bruce, Luthor voiceover. I am less sold on Eisenberg after hearing his voiceover. I think that was Jeremy Irons at the end talking to Bruce, and I think he will be fantastic. Affleck looked good. I think Cavill was the weak point of MoS, and I don't think it's because he can't act. I think the dialogue was a bit weak. Watch the trailer for The Man from U.N.C.L.E. If he can take that acting and have it here, he will knock it out of the park.

I am cautiously optimistic. I like the direction, that Supes isn't universally seen as a hero and people question his motives. Geopolitics today are all shades of grey, so it definitely fits with the world we live in.

no doubt, it's quite the polarizing film on this site.

I liked MOS a lot, did it have flaws? of course it did, but so does every other comic book film. I love teasing marvel fans because they act as if those films are completely flawless, which is nonsense.

Here is the issue:
Christopher Reeve's Superman was basically a soap opera. Soap operas attract a certain kind of putz. I would add that in the 80's, Soap Operas were at their peak, so THAT Superman fit into those times perfectly. People loved the love story, the embarrassing jokes, and even some of the subtle innuendo.

Zack Snyder shook off all of this garbage when he directed MoS, which in my opinion, is the best Superman movie to date. From the genius of Kryptonian life, to hands down, the straight-up bar room brawls between Kal & the Kryptonians, to the most epic super hero moment ever (When Supes goes up the World Engine's arse, as his friends struggle to save Jenny), this movie was amazing.

I'm sorry for you Christopher Reeve lovers that ZS didn't settle on another remake (Superman Returns, which could've been better), but chose to actually have the Man of Steel HIT people that had it coming.

Many, many Superman fans, REAL Superman fans not the Snyder/Goyer fans in this thread, who absolutely adore the Donner Superman. I'm talking guys who buy the books, and have been for YEARS. These aren't dopey "soap opera" fans.

I take no responsibility for the debate above. Polarizing is one way to put it, I said in the other thread I think it's the way critiques are taken by certain people for these movies. It's either praise it or your wrong, or I'm going to bring up something that has nothing to do with the argument. Which makes any kind of discussion difficult.

This happens with a few movies, but add in the DC vs Marvel debates, the lineage of Superman, the disparate opinions on Batman, etc., and you have a bad mix.

I equate people who enjoy the Donner films over Man of Steel with the same people who enjoyed the 4 Batman movies from 89 until 97 over the 05-12 trilogy.

Their opinions are as meaningless to me as a gnat's opinion on pretty much anything.

You make a distinction that I am not sure needs to be made. The original Donner Superman is still my allt-ime favorite comic book movie. Why? It was the first one that I saw as a kid, and I still think the helicopter scene is one of the ost iconic scenes in move history. Don't bitch to me about the physics of it all, I don't care. We are talking about a freaking alien form space.

That being said, I understand MoS and appreciate it for what it is, in this day and age. Is it a perfect movie? No. Does it remind me of the Donner films? Not really. Is it a fun action romp, that fleshes out Krypton's history and Superman's internal struggle? Absolutely. I don't think it has to be an either or.

I am one of those that liked Superman Returns though. Was it a great movie, no. Superman seemed a tad stalkerish. But Singer had some moments in there that were fabulous. Everyone staring up at Supes as he flies through the city. The airplane scene. It was a hit and miss movie as well, but I can appreciate many of the elements of it.

I for one will be first in line for imax showings for this one. I absolutely loved man of steel and watched it about 4 times in the theatre and I watch it every time it comes on the premiums.

Love it and look forward to this one. I like the God worship idea. To me he is a god and i'd be there worshipping with the rest of them.

It's the first film appearance of Superman and Batman together. Plus the first film appearances of Wonder Woman and Aquaman.

You'll have to shoot me to keep me from seeing this film opening night.

I really don't get the concept of Batman vs. Superman.

Superman wouldn't just kill someone. Although he could, and the one in the stupid Snyder universe probably would, Superman wouldnt just kill some dude. Especially not another hero. Batman wouldnt kill anyone either.

They're both heros but they go about it very very differently. Batman hides in the shadows. He is a symbol, he is fear, he the one in the darkness. Superman is hope, he is bright, he is the one in the light showing off to everyone.

So they fight and they distrust each other.

Superman is trying to get Batman to understand him. Batman is naturally distrustful, especially of a super powerful alien that is responsible for more destruction on the planet than anything or anyone ever.

Batman, becuase he is fricking batman, devises a way to be able to fight Superman, so that if the time comes, he will be able to stand up to Superman.

The two fight and shite and eventually form a shaky alliance. And that is really how it stays. Even in the comics. Batman is always distrustful of everyone, and they have faught multiple times in the comics.

And this is not meant to be a dig or a troll post, but those people who say "Batman could never fight Superman, or Batman would get his arse kicked, or Batman doesnt stand a chance, do not understand Batman.

He is a comic book superhero, not a normal person. He is also one of the smartest people on the planet when it comes to planning and technology.

Especially this batman (if you've read the comics). Who is older, and has been through some shite, and has developed and perfected his skills to their maximum level.
