I died when he said that.

And it's Entourage for football. Which I'm going to really enjoy. Too many heavy shows in my rotation here lately. I need some levity.

Exactly, this has potential and I need a light-hearted show.

This is Entourage meets Playmakers. I'm glad HBO picked this and that they are using real logos. Anything to piss off the shield.

For some reason I laughed hysterically at the guy who got cut when he said "frick twitter"

It's a fun show, but I wouldn't call it good in any other sense than that

In my eyes that makes it a good show

Too legit to quit. Basically set the stage to see the Rock develop as an agent.

Players will party, frick up, get cut, sign big contracts, struggle to find work, mismanage their funds, get second chances... That's the first episode ha. The need to just keep it fresh.

I loved entourage but let's be honest, it was the same formula over and over. Which isn't necessarily bad if it's working. I expect to have the same type of charming personalities and celebrity cameos that entourage had.

I just hope this show isnt always the bad stuff. Peoples lives ruined by having too much money blah blah.

The best part of entourage was that it was normally good times and guys having fun. Not crying because they dont know what to do after football

I thought it was good. I was highly skeptical but I'm in. I never watched entourage either, it wasn't my thing

Didn't love it, but didn't hate it either. I'll continue to watch because it was entertaining enough.

Probably still mad inside the NFL moved to Showtime. I used to love that show, and haven't seen it since the move.

Yes, you'll get some of the jokes. Especially if you've followed the NFL/CFB in the past decade.

i am in on this show. It won't be the wire but that is ok. This is the role the rock was made for. They can really push the suspension of disbelief to the max and it is going to be ridiculous. I cannot wait.

Yeah, it was always better when Vince was on top, when the episode ended with the guys just looking out over the horizon. Hoping Ballers just keeps that wish fulfillment thing goin. I watch enough other intense stuff, just want this to be fun.

My thoughts. It was a campier (if possible) "black version" of Entourage. Wasn't great but it wasn't bad enough to change the channel.

Hopefully this allows espn to resurrect Playmakers

ESPN has a standing contract worth millions with the NFL. They wouldn't dream of doing something like that again

HBO has nothing to lose though, which is way better

HBO has Hard Knocks and they are actually using NFL names, logos, etc... NFL could technically shut them down for that. It isn't like they are potraying football pkayers.
