So does everyone make it out of this season alive? For the longest I wrote Sara off as a no brainer for getting killed off, but now I'm starting to think that if her price for getting Nyssa to come help is her going back to Nanda Parbat, then she may survive this season after all. I'm guessing Blood doesn't make it, and I hope to hell Slade isn't killed off. Other than that, I guess I'd be surprised if any of the main "good guys" get killed off.

They are the ones working on the cure, so I'm guessing he was calling to say that they created the cure.

They won't kill Blood off. He'll either end up at Belle Reave, Strykers...or punished by his true master.

Sara has to end up dead at some point for Laurel to pick up the mantle and become Black Canary.

people keep saying this, but Arrow has already melded a few of this universes members into other villians / side-kicks

Isabel Rochev being Rose Wilson is the most recent one for example

ETA: From what I've read of the Black Canary, one of the reasons the Green Arrow and her are always getting together is because of their "history" together.. I really think this fights sara more than Laurel, because of the island... which btw, still has probably 3 more years before sara is gone from.

The showrunners have already said that Laurel will eventually take up the mantle. Now I guess they could always change their mind. But the original plan entering this season was for her to eventually take it over.

I'm starting to think that they may drag it out for another season though.

The showrunners have already said *snip*

I just did a lot of google searches, and all I could find is the writers using broad strokes talking about a black canary coming to the city.. before sara even showed up, so I would say, this never actually happened, but people putting words in their mouths.

"When asked about Roy Harper’s comic alter-ego, Speedy, and Laurel Lance’s alter-ego, The Black Canary, Guggenheim talked about Oliver’s five year long struggle to become a “killing machine” and that while other characters’ transformations wouldn’t “take as long,” they still had to “honor the reality of that.”

Guggenheim added: “the evolution has to be earned. It has to be real. The inciting incidents that may or may not turn someone into a vigilante have to have dramatic reality to them, first and foremost.”

So basically.. before we even had sara, still alive, the fans asked a direct question, and the showrunners answered with an open ended response... still proves nothing

I would have no problem with that. The non-comics fans need more time to really bond with her and feel like she has a secure spot on the team/show. When she goes, there needs to be absolutely NO foreshadowing (like Slade snatching Ollie, Moira and Thea before killing Moira) so the emotional hit is much more shocking.

I think a neat symbolism would be for Sara to die when the flashbacks finally get to when Ollie leaves the island, but that would be another two-three years. While that would be even better for getting viewers wrapped up in the character, I just don't know if the stories can still be so compelling for so long with two seasoned arse-kickers and no one to mentor.

There's another interview that he did where he stated it. I posted it awhile back. I'll see if I can find it again, but it may take a little while.

I found it:

Interview with Showrunner

I still call that misdirection, he talks about things not always being as they seem, and then says basically "we the audience know who laurel lance is, because that's what she is in the comic books".. which brings me back to, this universe loves to move away from what is presented in the comics.

I don't know. Kreisberg relates Laurel's journey of evolution to Oliver's journey from vigilante, to Arrow, to eventually becoming the Green Arrow. He then goes on and says
quote:

Laurel Lance right now is a lawyer with a lot of heart and a lot of humanity and courage. But it takes more than that to put on the mask and go out and fight crime. Our series is the evolution of that. People will see how Caity Lotz fits into Laurel's journey along the way.

So to me it sounds like the focus is on Laurel's evolution, not Sara's. But who knows, they may change their mind at some point. Maybe they come up with a better idea/storyline that keeps Sara as BC. Who knows, because like you said, it seems they are always pulling stuff that no one is expecting.

But I think that one thing we can all agree on is that this quote has been spot on so far:
quote:

I would say to everybody, we haven't let you down so far. Keep going on this ride with us.

and who freakin' knows what that might be at this point.. most would assume BC, but

quote:

is so tongue and cheek

I trust the writers though, and they might not have known how much we the audience would have liked sara, which means since that interview they could have completely changed their minds even if they HAD planned on Laurel = BC

==================

That being said, I could easily see Sara becoming Onyx, and LL taking up the mantle of BC from Sara via training as the Onyx

that wont happen. the showrunners repeatedly said the finale show of the series will be how Oliver got off the island. the flashbacks will always be there with the show.

i thought the episode was "okay." one of the weaker ones of the season, but its just setting up a lot. pretty much everything that happens continues to point to a lot of the theories we have here.

thea wants to leave and not deal with Oliver. Malcolm will probably show up to save her and she will go with him.

Laurel taking the Oliver is the Arrow right in stride. When Sara leaves to back to the League, she will fill that void.

Oliver already lost his home and HQ. more is on the way.

just a big exposition episode leading to the final ones.
