There were worse choices than Laurel. I was afraid they'd kill off Captain Lance, William, or even worse, Felicity's mom.

The problem is that the route they've taken doesn't fit within the continuity of the comics the show is based on. I realize Arrow really doesn't follow its source material, but this is quite possibly the most egregious thing they could've done.

Ideally they kill off Felicity, paving the way for an Oliver/Laurel romance taking us through season 5. They could've gone with Thea which would've had a similar emotional impact and would've provided a reason for a final showdown between Oliver/Merlyn in season 5.

I will say that was one of the better episodes this season regardless of the end.

So they killed off Laurel? I mean, I'm ok with them diverting from comic lore on somethings, but somethings you just don't mess with. And killing off a major character like Black Canary this early in her hero path, before she's had a chance to form a true legacy is just freaking crazy.

Plus this was the prefect opportunity to kill off Felicity, and they totally missed out on it. Felicity has way out lived her purpose on the show, and has actually become the anchor. I'm going to have a really hard time starting back with this show when season 5 rolls around.

I've gotten to the point where I just read a spoiler synopsis after each episode bc I can't bare to sit through it anymore.

Guggen said that we wouldn't even find out what Laurel said to Oliver until season 5. Enough is enough.

Sounds like a noteworthy show finally. I'll check it out and report back in the morning.

I'm pissed.

Granted Earth-2 Laurel is making an appearance on The Flash here in the next few weeks so maybe that's how they will circumvent the whole "permanently dead" thing the producers have going on.

Killing off Laurel is about the only thing that could have given me pause to think about giving up on the show. If Earth-2 Laurel doesn't somehow come in and replace her, I think I might peace out after Season 4 concludes.

This was the perfect moment to kill off a character like Felicity or Thea. The producers responded by killing off the Black Canary.

Stupid mistake IMO.

Yeah I was beginning to get the feel that laurel and Oliver really belong together in the end.

Yep...and reading the interview with Guggenheim about how they never were going to revisit that story line after season one, I'm now confident in saying that I'm done with the show. Arrow has been a fun ride for me but Laurel Lance was an untouchable for me and I can't forgive the showrunners for killing her off. I'll watch The Flash but I am done with Arrow.

Well that was certainly lame, though I did laugh my arse off at Laurel telling Oliver, with her dying breaths, that she hoped he and Felicity would work it out. Like Obi-Wan Kenobi I could hear the screams and feel the anger of comic book fans all across the internet.

And jesus what moron thought it was a good idea to just have her all of a sudden flat line off screen like that? I never liked Laurel and felt absolutely nothing from her death but jeez atleast send her off in a better composed shot.

At this point they need to burn it all down and start fresh or just let the show die after next season. Either way though I think I'm done with the Arrowverse.

Just remember this is all comic book based, even if they aren't following Green Arrow DC orthodoxy in the scripts. They still have access to all the same comic book short cuts, incredible fixes, multiple universes, other super hero interventions (like Flash/time travel), lazarus pools, and other potential game-changers, in which Laurel can be dead, and yet live again.

It ain't over and no fat lady is singing.

The big problem, and they have had it all through the series run, is that the people behind Arrow cannot write for the romantic female lead worth a shite.

In the first season or so they were trying to set up Dinah as the romantic lead and people hated the character with a passion. Meanwhile EBR's Felicity was allowed to just be a funny, quirky, character and was easily the most beloved person on the series.

So they switch the romantic lead focus to Felicity and move Dinah down in the pecking order... Felicity is now despised and everyone loved Dinah.

Its clearly not the fault of the actresses, both have turned in good work on the series when they weren't cursed with the Doom of being the romantic lead. Even if the series brings back Loitz to play Black Canary she'd be just as hosed if they move her to the romantic lead.

Its a damn shame to lose Cassidy, particularly since her and the rest of the cast seem to adore one another off camera, but in a way she's lucky. Unlike Rickards she won't be stuck with the thankless task of being the worst written character on TV.

I think people started hating Laurel when they turned her into an alcoholic in season 2 then had her beating up the league of assassins after only a couple weeks worth of kickboxing lessons.

That didn't help any I will admit. Arrow has gotten stale and I don't think its the actors fault. I think its time to consider shaking up the writing staff and producers.

The show has just gotten bad IMO. The storylines are convoluted and the pacing of them does not allow for emotional resonance. The fight choreography has become bad(timing wise) and the shooting angles uninteresting. Too many characters in a bad soup. Disappointed for me at least.

Just when I started turning the corner on Laurel, this happens. I just don't know anymore. I wish it was Diggle, I hate that "deep whisper" style of talking he does, and the helmet is atrocious.

sounds like it really got off the rails this season. sounds like they might make it to season 7 or 8 at this rate and then get cancelled.
