Maybe I'll give it a try then. I've been a bit tired of highschool based slice of life animes though.

Only anime I have ever seen was the movie "spirited away". I was blown away by the story. Can anyone give me a movie close to this? I would like to check it out

I'm 27.

Some of the anime storytelling is amazing. The Japanese also have very different values from British/American shows an it's interesting to see.

Pretty much anything by Miyazaki is gold. My personal favorites are My Neighbor Totoro and Princess Mononoke.

Started a new fantasy Sword and Sorcery show on Hulu. Endride. Only 2 episodes so far. It...has potential, but so far the 2 main protagonists are incredibly annoying. One won't hardly say anything, and the other is whiny and won't shut up. Their both guys, and it gives me the distinct impression they are setting them up to be a couple because of the way they are fighting. It's akin to a pair of middle aged kids who won't admit they like each other. Though it might could be seen as two brothers bickering. They at least introduced a girl, hoping that turns into something if I stick with it longer.

Someone else may like it, figured I would at least mention it.

I finally started watching Overlord and it is actually really good. I'm a little pissed I've waited until now to watch it.

Didn't you say you couldn't get into it after an episode? I tried to tell you.... It's a whole lot of fun watching a guy overpower everything that steps in front of him.

Have you watched an episode of Grimgar yet? I can't recommend it enough. It's literally my favorite anime show. I gave a glowing review of it on the last page.

For starters, it's simply gorgeous.

Anyone have any opinions on Legend of the Galactic Heroes? I see it pop up here and there on various corners of the internet, but a lot of the stuff I've read seems sorta vague.

Truth.

I've heard a lot of anime "snobs" mention it as a "great" anime. But that's 95% of everything I've ever read about it.

It's not really my style of show so i haven't viewed it. I just find it curious how people on sites like MAL or /r/anime act about it.

Giant

Massive

Huge

Fantastic

News!!!

At least to me.

Togashi has started writing Hunter X Hunter again, and released his first chapter in over 2 years earlier this week! It was released this week accompanying the fanfare over the English dub of HxH which premiered tonight! With a really, really good cast by the way.

I'm fairly stoked that we will finally get some more adventures from Gon and Killua. Even though the anime won't start again for a minimum of probably 2 years.

New show out this spring, My Hero Academia, is freaking awesome. It's kinda like One Punch Man in that it makes fun of standard hero animes. It's freaking funny, the animation is awesome, and the action is pretty awesome. On a scale where 10 is OPM, it's a 7. Highly reccomend. It's on Hulu if anyone is interested.

It's great. I actually read up to the most recent chapter of the manga over the past several days. My only complaint is that there are so many characters some of the seemingly more interesting ones don't get enough screen time.

I've never read any Manga. Closest I've come is reading the latest chapters of Hunter X Hunter now that the writer is finally back again.

Having read the Manga for My Hero, how fast is the show blowing through material, like it will be a one and done show? Or does it seem like there is enough material for multiple seasons?

I can't watch that show, the animation kills me. Hate CG animated crap. Just me though, and Berserk is supposed to be amazing.

I've started trying to read the manga for Berserk because I'm intrigued by the story, and I'm not overly confident in any anime based on it. I've been having some issues getting the third issue though. I ordered it from Amazon, and they never shipped it, so I canceled the order. Now I ordered from some half.com retailer based off of eBay, and I think he might be a scam seller. I should be able to force a refund because it's through half, but I have to wait until he's officially outside of his shipping time limits to file the claim. I'm just frustrated that I have to wait this long to read it. It shouldn't be this hard to order a book.

There are 90 something chapters as of now and each episode covers a chapter or two. Episode ten corresponds to chapter 15 so they've still got quite a bit of material to cover before catching up ever becomes an issue. Feels like they're slowing the pace of the episodes down a good bit too; lots of time spent on standoffs and flashbacks.

Considering its popularity I'm sure it'll have multiple seasons but apparently some French streaming site listed the current run for 13 episodes. Haven't found anything "official" though.

If anyone wants to watch a pretty decent anime on Amazon Prime, check out Kabaneri of the Iron Fortress. A zombie-like virus appears during the industrial revolution. Main character becomes a mutant half human half zombie variant and starts fighting back. Pretty decent animation.
