So, just watched Ep 5. Seems like Cassian was sold something that wasn't true

These guys want to hit the Empire, but they aren't sure what they're doing... at least that's my takeaway from them talking about flying the transport. I didn't think they were testing him, I think they were clueless on what to do. Days before they hit.

Maybe that's why Skarsgard brought him in, a level of competency. And maybe if he gets a taste, he will go along with things like this more 'just to do it'.

Not sure what to make of the Empire version evil Rob Lowe (security officer), and his home life w/ mom. Cocoa puffs in blue milk?

I was laughing when I saw that.

I have a feeling the female security officer is going to hire him.

I think so as well. I was surprised however when the guy told him about his brother for the so called apology but what fuels him to fight. Cassian should have replied my family and about the whole population of my planet were wiped out by the Empire. He probably has more beef with them than anyone in the group.

Syril has clone trooper action figures and an overbearing, awful mother.

Humans are the dominate species in the Galaxy and hold the most worlds

Also, just based on the real world seems to work:

I think you would see lots of different species (aliens) in high-end diplomatic areas (like Coruscant), and areas with lots of travelers (say, the cantina in Mos Eisley near the spaceport).
Otherwise, just like ethnicities tend to stick together in their own communities, I believe alien species would, too.

I'd say Andor's world is a lower class work community, and suspect it's mostly all human. There probably are other labor planets with other species.

Let's not forget, Star Wars still has prejudices and biases... the Imperial officer on the Death Star asked Han and Luke (in stormtrooper gear) where they were taking this THING (Chewy). Horrible Empire... but it wasn't just them. Leia called Chewy a walking carpet .
You don't see interspecies mingling much, apparently even on Alderaan.

You see it in the criminal enterprises because they take the best they can get, and you see it in the Rebellion some (not a lot) because other species are trying to break free too.

Syril's mom must be a sith lord. That old battleaxe was absolutely eviscerating her kid. You could feel the hate flowing through him.

"You're slouching. Is that how you've been presenting yourself to the world? It would explain a great deal."

"You might as well wear a sign that says, 'I promise to disappoint you.'"

"Shame we couldn't have seen more of each other when you were flourishing. I'd have the memory to sustain me."

I was laughing my arse off. Looking forward to Syril going postal.

It was only there in Rogue One to test the weapon.

quote:

In 9 BBY, the Death Star, an armored battle station whose superlaser would be capable of destroying entire worlds, was moved from Geonosis to Scarif to continue its construction under the supervision of Director Orson Krennic.

When Jedha City was destroyed Tarkin took over the project.

Although a small and idyllic world, Scarif played an important part in the Galactic Empire's military-industrial complex, becoming a center for top-secret research beyond inspection distance of the prying eyes of the Imperial Senate.

It sounded like in that first meeting the group may not have even known about it but just rising construction costs were causing massive amounts of credits to Skariff.

Some things I did not realize regarding the Death Star

quote:

he station was spheroid, and measured 160 km (100 miles) in diameter with 357 internal levels and a surface area of over 45,000 square kilometers.

quote:

the population of the Death Star was 1.7 million military personnel, 400,000 maintenance droids, and 250,000 civilians, associated contractors and catering staff

quote:

The battle station housed 342,953 members of the Imperial Army and Navy, 25,984 storm troopers

quote:

In addition to the Death Star's super laser, its surface was peppered with 15,000 turbo laser batteries along with 768 tractor beam emplacements

I never realized the size/scope of this but now no why they kept it out in the Outer Rim to hide it

Regarding massive size

The Death Star traveling through hyperspace is always something that would have been cool to show.

Another item the the Last Jedi and Rogue One introduced to us. Why did the Rebels just not launch one of their largest ships at the Death Star going into hyperspace.

Rogue One showed us Rebels would sacrifice a ship and TLJ introduced the damage a hyper jump could do.

There is a massive size difference, but if it lined up with the core?

Hyperspace as a weapon is something they tossed in and made up for TLJ, but damn could have ended things much quicker

Uhh, yeah, sure...

Both versions of the Death Star were super-secret. Not just the plans, but the thing was more vulnerable while being constructed, and it was still out on it's maiden voyage when it gone blown up.

Obviously the second one was still under construction.

Knowing Palpatine's, and the Empire's in general, penchant for secrecy and destruction, there may well have been civilians involved... but those guys weren't coming home afterwards.

I never said anyone was coming home.

For the record that was a quote from SW source not my numbers.

I would think anyone working on the Death Star stayed on the Death Star and were treated just like people working in certain government facilities around the country.

I'd say Lando killed a lot more than Luke.

Death Star I was complete and fully operational, and Tarkin deployed it.
I would assume there's some civilian contractors watching the reactors, maybe a few top-level chefs preparing meals for Tarkin and his officers (and the guys they entertain on occasion)... probably a few camp whores smuggled in by some of the troops (and officers).

Death Star II was still in construction, so I imagine tons of skilled contractors overseeing a lot of slave labor.

The ship launched at the Supremacy in TLJ was over 2000 meters longer than the Rebel Alliance flagship Home One (3,438 vs 1300), was built as a warship (Home One was not), and had really strong shields.

The Death Star had to be destroyed from the inside, and I think that was the only option.

Whether that could work on the second Death Star, who knows. The outer hull was not complete. But it did basically have a small planetary shield that was based on the Forest moon that had to have been very strong. I do not believe anything the Rebels had would work on the completed Death Star.
