Her Obama comment was hilarious though. If I had to guess, if any of my ancestors from the 1800s used a time machine to 2013 and saw Obama as president, I would imagine they would be shocked too.

????? I couldn't get through the awful hammy acting disaster that was the first three episodes of season 1. It's way better now, Bates and Leveau's actress are leagues better than anyone from season 1.

eta: oh, and in the jazz bar scene, there was a former poster in the background. and in the pool hall scene, there was a guy I hooked up w/ my freshman year of college.

It hasn't been discussed, but is the point of that scene is that Precious is going to be using her human voodoo doll powers so that Kathy Bates gets to experience being raped by the black minotaur? That would be sort of poetic.

Finally watched it. I'm having trouble with wanting to keep watching.
Kathy Bates came hardcore in that first episode and now she's like a bumbling idiot. Like someone said, she's basically comic relief now. That sucks.
I don't know, things are just weird. And that would normally be fine, but they seem to be kinda just weird for no particular reason. Like Kyle's mom raping him and him later bludgeoning her to death. Precious jilling off to the Minotaur. Etc. Just strange shite.
I did get to see my padna though, the slow motion dude in the bar scene. So that was hella cool.
I dunno. Jessica Lange wanting the hit chick to take over for her, seemed to be training her, wanted ole girl to kill her to inherit powers, and then ends up just killing the chick herself. Weird. The whole thing with the head of the coven and her pregnancy is not only weird but I don't give a frick about it/her as a character. The neighbors and that whole thing...seems kinda pointless now with hot witch dead.
On top of that, I find some of the acting to be really bad. The Kathy Bates "Liiiieeees" scene was terribly acted (by two fantastic actresses). Every time Angela Bassett is on I cringe. Etc.
And I'm not trying to be overly critical, I just hope they can start tying some things together and getting somewhere or I'm not sure I care to keep watching.

I do agree with this. Take every cliche about a voodoo queen, multiply by 1,000, and that's her performance. Less would be more in her case.
