I hear the 2nd captain America is really good, but not from anyone with an objective opinion or whose taste in movies is similar to mine.

You need to see Winter Soldier. It's an awesome movie that's essentially an action thriller using comic book characters.

It could work as a stand alone movie.

Cap 2 did borrow from TDK, but it gave it some more levity.

I know youre the wrong guy to say this too/around but Cap 2 is nowhere close to TDK (or BB, or TDKR)

Truth.

Even though CA2 gives it a run for its money, TDK is still one of the GOAT films we will ever see. It's a true masterpiece.

I still think of TDK as a film and Marvel's stuff as movies.

Not that one is better than the other, but I take it as Nolan was trying to make a serious film while Marvel is trying to make entertaining movies.

And I put CA2 towards the top of those movies.

Nolan was using the comics as a jumping off point to tell a more real story. In which he succeeded, at least twice.

Naa. TDK is a better film (I do use that word specifically). It might have just as many flaws, but they are different flaws.

I'd put CA2 on par with BB, maybe slightly ahead.

TDKR is another story, but I understand that closure is important and that can elevate a film.

But that's an opinion, nothing more.

I'm not going to take an opinion incorrectly, but that's me.

I made this joke in the other thread and that blew up in my face.

And i will 100% admit that im a big Batman guy and Cap is one of my least favorite superheros, and that definitely sways my opinion. I also like comic book movies to be either gritty (TDK) or wacky (AMS/GotG). CA2 is good, but its not either of those things. A matter of preference.

Batman was my favorite growing up, so I understand. But after connecting with old comics through the interwebs and Brubaker's stuff, Cap went from top 10 to #1 fairly quickly.

As long as the film contains a good, well-inspired character(s) and the tone serves the purpose I usually enjoy it when it comes to comic books. But yeah that's preference.
