FWIW I preferred ASM to the first CA film, which was complete garbage.

I liked the first CA film. Director Joe Johnston did a good job with the retro scenes just like he did with October Sky & The Rocketeer.

musical montage - useless and boring
action montage - that's what I wanted to see, why was it a montage.

also, the whole teseract thing was so fricking stupid. I'm going to stop because I basically hate almost all of the avenger movies including the avengers

I thought CA2 was better. I like the ASM series, but am just not into the parent storyline, and there was a lot of focus in that in ASM2.

They had an awesome setup with Electro. There's this terrifying electric freak walking through NYC. He's clearly a mentally disturbed individual. The possibilities were endless. What do they do? During the fight the crowd hangs around, not terrified at all, like they were watching a movie. They applaud and cheer, not caring about pissing off the electric freak in front of them (cheesy as hell, too). Then Spider-Man stops said freak by putting on a fireman hat and spraying him with water. The movie went downhill from there for me.

Yes, yes you are. AS2 was simply terrible. I really can't think of what the actual plot of the movie is. "Spider-Man pisses off some people for no real reason and they kill his girlfriend" is the best I can come up with. The Winter Soldier was just fantastic though. Great action, great suspense, great plot. It's no contest on which one is better.

CA 2 was like Bourne meets Marvel, IMO. Absolutely great.

TAS 2 was way better than TAS but I hated Electro's entire story and character.

Winter Soldier was a damn good movie. The Falcon's story was well done from his intro running around the lakes to him getting the gear. The action scenes were well done and pretty unique. Although dying in this universe is losing a lot of its luster.

CA2 was one of Marvel's most complete movies and I'd put it at the top of their list behind Guardians.

If I was looking for something kind to say about ASM2, I'd say that it was possibly the closest that we've seen a comic book superhero come to life on screen. The story was a mess, but Garfield as Spider-Man... with the movement, the smart-arse remarks, the look and personality... that was spot-on Spider-Man.

I saw it a second time just for the joy of seeing Spider-Man portrayed so perfectly on screen.

It's a shame that the villains and story were such a train wreck.

Groot's resurrection made a little more sense since he's a plant and has to start over with growing.

It's non-existent for mid-level to major characters. I think about how upset I was about the death scenes in the Firefly film, and how I just don't care for a second when someone dies in a Marvel movie.

I really think they should kill off Tony Stark in the next Avengers.

Why did you have to go and bring that up?

Joss Whedon Teases ‘Death’ in ‘The Avengers 2'
quote:

“When I actually considered doing Avengers 2, my first question was what can I do that’s new? Because I can’t make it bigger [audience laughs], but I can make it better, so that’s where I’m sort of going with that.”

When asked what his general philosophy is for the sequel, without getting into details, Whedon followed up with a dark voice:

“Death, death and death.”

They should kill off all of the Avengers and bring in Tigra, Two-Gun Kid, Swordsman, and 3-D Man.

There has to be a full reboot/reshift/recast coming after Avengers 3, so I wouldn't put it out of the realm of possibility.

Have the first 2-3 phases lacking significant deaths then just kill everyone off over the course of a few movies.

The question is: What kind of Avengers do we go with? RDJ and Evans want out. I doubt Cheadle would be up for a multi-movie contract, some of the others will get tired eventually. I could see a Black Panther or Ms. Marvel lead team with Ant-Man, Scarlet Witch, Quicksilver, Vision team, but is that team profitable? Does it have the draw to keep the crowds coming. I doubt it but maybe GotG gives some hope.
