SPOILERS

I actually thought ASM 2 was pretty good. The only problem was Sony was so scared of Marvel with The Avengers they tried to push in the Sinister Six way too quickly.

GG should have been left for the third movie. Us getting to know more about Peter and Harry's friendship would make it more reasonable for Harry killing Gwen. Although that scene was done really well. The fight at the power plant was awesome too.

And unlike MJ in the Rami films, Gwen is actually useful and is probably the most likeable character.

I don't know a damn thing about Ultron, but I think it is in the slight realm of possibility that Tony Stark and Captian America come to blows over the creation of Ultron at the beginning of the movie and then Ultron kills CP towards the end.

I guess you would have to set up Bucky taking over as CA prior to CA3 though

Except for that pesky Captain America 3 movie.

No. Cap 3's story is already about Cap still looking for Bucky.

Cap will not die in Avengers 2. Neither will Thor. And Hulk, There are too many rumors around Hulk for that to happen.

Iron Man and Widow are the safest bets.

Cap is on the list for A3's death toll though, and is probably the go to death for that film.

I have one thing to say to this, The Fallen Son.

I think there is talks about Widow getting her own movie. Plus rumors are that RDJ may be quitting the Iron Man movies

Chris Evans has also expressed this, which leads me to believe The Fallen Son will happen.

There have been, I just don't see it. Her stories go into the further spy-territory than Winter Solider did. She's great as a B-list character, I'm not sure she can carry her own film, or at least a film that bring something extra to the MCU.

Not rumors, he's said it publicly. If he doesn't die, they'll find a way to write him out in A2. There were recent rumors of Iron Man 4 though, so there's that to add to the fire.

Hawkeye is probably a good death target as well.

He can be swayed, I believe. He just wants to spend more time directing that's all. He's never said he wants out of the MCU (RDJ has said he doesn't want to be Tony Stark much longer). Evans just said he wants to shift his priorities to the other side of the camera.

But, Fallen Son isn't out the question, I just think that's a post-A3 story. That will not be Cap 3, there's unfinished business from WS and a completed arc to be done.

Fallen Son loses too much of it's impact without Civil War. I would hate to see them head that direction without Civil War.

I think most people will see GotG as a movie that changed the game for superhero movies. They proved that a comic movie can be wacky and still be great. There have been other attempts at this and they nailed it. IMO, Cap 2 changed the game, though. They proved that a comic movie can realistic, badass, and yet can still be fun. The tone of that movie was so perfect. I hope this concept continues. I would hate to see him killed off.

Maybe. I think Marvel's slate of unannounced movies will prove this. If we get Hulk, IM4, Thor 3, and maybe a Black Panther or something, GotG will have little effect.

If we get something like Planet Hulk, Ms. Marvel, Inhumans, then yeah, GotG had a big effect.

I thought The Dark Knight set the stage for this. It showed that a comic book movie could be less superhero-y and still effective. Cap 2 did borrow from TDK, but it gave it some more levity.

Evans has given his all and been fantastic, it would be sad to lose him, but he left his mark on the character and I'm grateful for that.

yeah, I was really upset they cast the Human Torch as Captain America, but he has done a fantastic job.

I think most people thought RDJ would be a great Tony Stark but were apprehensive about how well Iron Man could be pulled off.

What separated Cap 2 from TDK was the balance it had. I loved TDK trilogy, but it was all dark for the most part, understandably so. I think Marvel has a big advantage because of the freedom they have with their characters. They don't have other comparisons or expectations tying them down.

I would hope so, but I'll have to see it to believe it. Iron Man was pretty light compared to the Nolan Batman movies and the Fox X-Men films. But they stayed on their own courses. Sony just said "frick it, we'll keep re-doing the same Spider-Man stories" and Fantastic Four just went full derp.

Plus, Marvel pulled away from Wright when he wanted to do something different. I don't see the Thor/Iron/America/Hulk universes changing that much based on Guardians.

I think our best bet of a Guardians inspired movie is from some other studio. Somebody thinking, "Screw this, if they can make their own Star Wars then so can we."

What? This isn't true. It's not that they have freedom, it's that they are taking chances on characters from outside the spectrum. There's just as much history with Captain America and Thor as there is with Superman and Batman. Are they more iconic? No, but they have long histories, and many fans who give a big shite about what happens with them.

The difference with Marvel is that they aren't spending their time making 3 different versions of one character in under 10 years. Think about that.

Marvel is creating horizontally rather than vertically.

Incorrect. You know how loud the internet is and how much fans care about representations. Heck, I'm fairly critical of the X-Men. All the time. You made a similar comment in the BvS thread that Batman and Superman's popularity made them harder to "satisfy" everyone. That's paradoxical. Popularity, by it's very nature, means it DOES satisfy wide scope of people from a single creation.

We can either do this here or there, but...

Let's do this!

That because Tim Burton made a film in 1989, DC has less freedom than Marvel?

And Schumacher, Nolan, Donner, Singer. They have had a lot of movies. Yes, Marvel has more flexibility. They also have more of an opportunity to do a character nobody has heard of.
