History announced today that the new season of Alone will return on June 15 — with a big twist. Unlike previous seasons where individuals competed, Season 4 will see seven teams of two family members each dropped miles apart on the mercurial and rugged Vancouver Island. The two people in each team must first reunite, and then survive as long as they can. The show remains the same otherwise.

So, they won't be alone?

ETA: Ahhh, I guess they kind of will be, up until the producers have them meet up

Well they will be alone at first. Then if they meet they wont be alone. Unless you are talking about as a group, then they are alone. Got it. :)

On a serious note it will be interesting to see how they know what direction to go. Do they get a map and a general direction. Maybe they are given a map with each persons spot and they agree beforehand who goes to the other one. But what if 1 persons location is just way better, do they agree before hand on a way to judge this and take a chance they both will know who goes and who sits.

Love this show.

But back to Vancouver Island? I'd like to see someplace new.

Regardless, I look forward to see someone top the building of a floating sailboat/fishing pole to catch fish in deeper water while the person stays on the bank.

With 2 people they should be able to set up a shelter very quickly then can set up nets, traps, and fish a lot more easier. On the other hand they are probably going to annoy the hell out of each other after a week or so. Going to be a lot more drama.

I only watched the first season. Loved this show. The guy who won was comedy gold and I've seen him in several commercials since.

One of my favorite scenes was one of the final 3 guys going on about mold. I think he was going batshit by that time and the mold really bothered him.

Even though it goes against the namesake "Alone" I'm excited for the new twist. I think they realized the isolation is what limited the amount of time the contestants would endure and by giving them another person they will be able to extend the length of time they are able to stay out there.

In.

I like the twist... wonder how many of the pairs will have one person quit before even meeting up with their partner?

Just saw the making the cut ep. They will designate beforehand which one makes the hike and which one starts the shelter building with them dividing the the set of tools in half (10/2). It seems the show is expecting, or preparing for the worst, and is having a lot of first respondent crews in the woods, tracking the hikers via gps, so that if something does happen they will be within a somewhat reachable time limit.

I could see many of these pairs not getting along very quickly. While dealing with no one was a part of the first seasons of Alone, it appears being trapped with a relative and not Alone will be a major part of this new twist.

I remember at least 1 pair from the South, Kentwood La and Hattiesburg, MS.

1 pair had a bar of soap as one of their items.

not having to film yourself at everything will make it MUCH easier. IF one is allowed to film the other. If they are smart, one will be sacrificed in less than 2 weeks. He will eat none of the rations, little of the fish or cambium. He will bust butt until he drops, seeing to it that the other one has the needed 10 lbs per day (average) of fish/game needed to not lose weight, and then tap out. Then, after the other one clears 1/4 mill, he gives 50k cash to the sacrificial one. Not bad pay for 2 weeks, eh? :-)

I dont think you understand how this works. 1 taps, its game over for both. They are both given tap signaling devices.

But it was a nice idea nonetheless.

Based on past winners, a strong couple could make it out there for 6 months.

not unless they know to take a gillnet, and a paracord hammock, and make 2 dozen big fish traps out of them and make a dozen duck rafts out of the 25 fishhooks One hook will have to be straightened and used to sew the pontoon for the outrigger raft. If both are fat, they might make it. If one is skinny, and the pair can split up, the skinny one should tap out. If they have to stay, then the fat one should eat very little of what they catch, so that the skinny one can stay in the fight.

As long as history only allows next day streaming i wont watch. their social media pages are notorious for dishing out spoilers hours after the shite airs on Tv while not allowing people to stream until next day.

My fav guy in season 2 went on FB right after one of the shows ended talking about how he tapped. I was on my way to go catch the last half of season 3 yesterday and came across a giant frikkin banner on the shows page that said CONGRATS TO WINNER OF SEASON 3 and spoiled the shite again.

there's no reason to care about WHO wins. the only interesting thing is HOW did they win? So far, they've won by being fat and lucky. boring as hell.

Well, they all did have great mental skills dealing with being alone away from loved ones. This season it will take another personality type to win.

This show has lost a lot of steam. Last season 4 people quit because they were bored. I'm right behind them.
