The songs thread made me break out my almost famous dvd. I forgot what a great movie that was. Can anyone tell me what band Stillwater is based on? Tia

I didn't think they had a band in particular in mind. Just the one hit or one album wonder but based in the 70's.

Did Foghat have a musical catalog? I can only think of one.

Tiny Dancer scene FTW.

Pretty sure it was based on the writers experience with a combination of groups. Led Zeppelin, The Eagles, and The Brothers if I remember correctly.

The fugit kid who played William was really good. Kate Hudson and Billy crudup also had great performances.

Cameron Crowe actually wrote for Rolling Stone as a teenager in the 70s. The movie is semi autobiographical.

A lot of the stories are based on the allman brothers band

It is mostly a mix of poco, the eagles, led zep, the allmans and skynyrd
