Promo for AHS: Hotel Episode 2

Looks like we'll be getting a little more insight into the "mattress man" from the opening scene. Perhaps a little backstory on the hotel itself as well (with what looks like a nod to H.H. Holmes IMO).

Hey... I know it's not for everybody

The first season was one of my favorite shows I've watched on TV, though I admittedly haven't seen that many shows.

The second was entertaining but too scattered and the last two were bad but at least they tried to tell a story.

This one was 100% just an attempt to be as shocking and gory as possible without even an attempt at sowing the seeds for a storyline for the season. At least not in the first 30 min. and after the last two seasons they were on a short lease with me anyway.

I agree with every word of that but this season is miles ahead of the last two which was some of the worst shite on cable. Why has there been such an effort to gay everything up and have musical numbers? The cast has shifted so female heavy. Lady gaga's inclusion makes the producers look desperate.

I almost couldn't watch the entire show. I wanted to turn it off but my wife wanted to watch the rest. Too "shocking" for me.

I agree. I have about 15 min left of the first episode. I almost stopped watching after the first 30 minutes, much like I did for the first episode of Freak Show. It got a little more interesting, but there doesn't seem to be a story that interests me.

What bothers me are the obvious shining ripoffs.

Well I am out for this season. This is full uncensored Ryan Murphy and it's unwatchable to me. I was very excited about the concept but can't make myself watch more of that.

I'm so mad right now. I can't find it On Demand and I can't watch it on the Fx website.

eta: oh shite, I can watch it on the website!

Be prepared. Somethings you cannot unsee. Also prepared to be confused as to what in the world is going on

Just finished watching. I liked it enough that I will watch the next episode. The intro is not nearly as creepy as the freakshow or Coven intro. Lots of good music in the episode. Matt Bomer

Finally watched this last night.

Solid start to the new season. It was super weird and creepy, and I dig the vibe. As usual, it was very poorly acted...Gaga was bad. Sarah Paulson is atrocious in every season I've seen. I realize the show is supposed to be sort of stylized and cartoonish, but man the acting is overly bad most of the time. At least Kathy Bates wasn't as bad this time though, so that was a plus.

Gaga is such a plain, weird looking person. I can't tell if she's attractive or not. Now, she does have a fairly nice body usually, and her arse is on point. But her face just looks SO weirdly plain at times, and almost masculine sometimes. It's actually distracting for me. I'm not sure I dig her and her man being vampires (or into that kind of stuff), but it could be an interesting angle.

The thing I'm most curious about is how they make it true to reality (or if they do). In the past, people are murdered or have gone missing, and there are no consequences to that. I mean shite, last season we had a very obvious murderous clown literally walking down the street with blood all over him and a knife in his hand or whatever. I'm interested to see if this hotel exists in its own little world where people are murdered with no consequence, or if the police actually get involved (and do something, I mean).

All in all, not a bad start and I'll definitely keep watching for now.

So to summarize your long drawn out post... you find Lady Gaga's masculine features attractive and your favorite part of the episode was the drill bit strap-on man rape scene?

That's my problem with shite like this. Hell, even with the torture porn horror genre (like Hostel, for example), it still fits within the narrative of the movie. I hate it when people overdo it and just throw random, weird shite into a shot JUST to be random and weird.

Now, weird doesn't have to be bad. But with this, it's like someone said earlier, they seemed to be trying to be "so edgy, man" instead of telling a good story with weird shite in it.

It is funny though, thinking back to 20 years ago when parents were freaking out over Bart Simpson and how his smartassness would affect kids, or flipping out because NYPD Blue said "shite" or showed a naked buttcheek for 3 seconds. And fastforward to now and we have blood orgies and anal rape/murder scenes.

And now I am really (really0 confused. WTF is going on in there?
