What if I told you that Darkseid is basically Hush with his own powers?

Darkseid and Hush are basically the same to me. Darkseid is the one that gets shite done so he wins there for the most evil villain.

Oh for sure. I agree that FF was Marvel's reply to DC. I'm only saying that it's pretty much a known that the Avengers was Marvel's direct answer to DC's JLA.

And Doom wouldn't be dropped down on the ranks as pure evil because of something like this, but he is who he is because of is love for 1) his mother and 2) Latveria.

With this thread two names popped up in my mind: Hush and Darkseid. They're both clearly the worst and they're sane which makes them worse than anyone else. They're both just naturally horrible people. I can buy your interpretation.

He's a villain. So yes. and actually I would think he's ranked towards the top of pure evil

No contest. It's the evil Doctor from The Authority. While monologing with Authority member The Engineer, he traveled back in time, molested her as a teen, and then instantly returned to his monologue without missing a beat. She had to stand there with an instant memory of her opponent molesting her.

I'm going to nominate Mr. Rictus from Wanted

I would also nominate:

1.) Red Skull
2.) Sabretooth
3.) The Purple Man
4.) Joker

Good Call. I'd also add in Violator from Spawn comics. That was one evil clown!

I guess technically he does, but Doomsday is one of the worst villains ever. He has to be the most overrated villain of all time. Any of us could have thought of him. He just kills people and that's it. He's awful in all incantations.

It's Jim Shooter, George Perez, Bob Layton, and David Michelinie. Real people, ain't that fricked up?

These four frickers wrote a comic in which Ms. Marvel is suddenly pregnant, gives birth to a baby, who grows into an adult man nearly overnight, who then rapes his mother (Ms. Marvel), who is the father of Ms. Marvel's child.

Well if conquering and subjugating planets is a heavy consideration, Kang has to be up there since I think he has conquered and enslaved something like "a thousand thousand words and more4". Of course he does have his admiration of the Avenges and his love for Ravona going against the most evil tag.

but Thanos is simply a hack.

maybe, but Thanos has a much deeper character development than Darkseid.

There are plenty of comics, like Thanos Quest, that explore his motivations and make him the protagonist.

Jim Starlin likes to say there are 3 versions of Thanos and he pretty much developed the character.

Red Skull is probably the most evil in the MCU, but AXIS kind of ruined it.

as far as plagarism is concerned...that should really mean nothing in comics, there are a ton of characters that mirror each other...

pretty much this

Even Superman was inspired by pulp comics, judeo-christian mythology, and perhaps even current philosophy floating around in the early 20th century.

Comic book heroes are essentially gods or demigods anyway - ideas which go back thousands of years. Claiming any of them are entirely original is probably missing the point.
