Marvel, DC, Image, Darkhorse, etc., across all comic book companies, who do you think is the purest evil villain ever created in the media based on comic books?

Joker is obviously up there.

There's hurting people to achieve some perceived good, and then there's hurting people just because you enjoy it.
And making the world a worse place just to do it.

Hey Mur. Watching DC's Necessary Evil Super Villains to get me in the mood before seeing Suicide Squad. It got me thinking about what is the purest, most evil villain out there.

And prepping some old X-Men comics to send to CGC or CBCS to get slabbed.

This much is true. He is pretty F'n Evil. But is he really the devil in the MCU?

Good idea. I'll be seeing it in the next week or two as well.

Not sure to be honest with you. I remember seeing Stan Lee asked about Mephisto, and he said something to the effect that they couldn't create a character named Satan or The Devil in 1968 so they named him Mephisto .

I always assumed that meant he was The Devil.

X-Men 94-105 that I think are pretty high grades. Also have New Mutants 98 (1st Deadpool) that I know will pull a 9.8 easily! Inc. Hulk 271 (Rocket Racoon)that should be over 9.4ish. I got a shitload more books to send, but I've been hearing bad things about CGC and their cases lately.

Joker is insane though. I don't think he's very high up there. He kind of knows what he's doing, but his mind bounces all over the place that it's hard to determine.

But it's probably Hush who is the most evil character in comics, and certainly in the Batman mythos. Pure fricking evil. He's not crazy, but simply evil. When he was 8, he cut the brakes of his parents car to kill them to get all of their cash. And he murders people for shallow reasons, and he's sane on top of that. He's the worst out of Batman's rogue gallery. He has no point besides being a selfish twat that wants to ruin others lives.

Darkseid probably. He knows evil. He likes it. There's no hero of his story justification. He wants to dominate the Universe...completely.

But the Joker in his current incarnation is fricking EVIL.

Back in 1968, Marvel Editor-in-Chief Stan Lee had finally given a solo series to his favorite creation: the Silver Surfer. Stan was looking to create the ultimate villain for his noblest of heroes to face, as Stan described in his 1976 book BRING ON THE BAD GUYS:

“A man such as this, with power such as his, must inevitably be confronted by the most universally recognized symbol of evil on the face of the earth — the specter of Satan.”

Even so, Stan still didn’t want to come right out and use the Biblical Satan as a funny-book bad guy:

”Basically, it has always been my desire to have our stories savored for their enjoyment value primarily. Any moralistic or philosophical extras which might be thrown in are merely Marvel bonuses. Hence, I was reluctant to use the name Satan, or Mephistopheles, or Lucifer, or whatever. Names such as those would leave nothing in doubt. So I settled for a name which certainly had the sound of Mephistopheles, but we weren’t coming out and saying it. Besides, Mephisto is easier to spell.”

Then maybe Thanos also? Though he does it for his love of Death. Darkseid just wants to rule everything.

Thanos should never be in the conversation because he's plagiarism. Marvel has pretty much stated it. If you bring Darkseid into the most evil conversation, then Thanos is not applicable. If Marvel and DC were one universe, then Thanos wouldn't exist. It would just be Darkseid. Darkseid is certainly one of the most evil, but Thanos is simply a hack.

I have this book! LOL. It was like a companion to Sons of Origins.

And yea, now that I've read your post, the Comic Book Code didn't allow monsters or the devil to be portrayed in comics. So Stan named his devil creation Mesphesto.

Yea, probably the most blatant use of plagiarism in comics. Avengers via JLA is a close second, only because the infamous golf game is common knowledge.

But I now that I think about it, the mere fact that Thanos can love disqualifies him.

Except that it was the Fantastic Four that was created to compete, not the Avengers.

So does that mean the FF and by virtue Doom, can't count because they were only created to compete with JLA?

Darkseid.

He's literally enslaving an entire planet and subjugates its inhabitants to the most extreme and brutal conditions.

There is no low for him that he won't sink to at all for universal domination.

Yeah, but Darkseid has the means to do that. I really think Hush is worse and would do worse if he had Darkseid's powers.
