Anyone with basic football knowledge knows you go with dline. A great dline can cover up a bad lb Corp or bad secondary.

I would rather be LSU and have an elite defensive line and elite defensive backs.

Linebackers. You can pressure the quarterback, limit the run, AND shut down the opponent's TE so the other team can't dink and dunk you the whole game.

okay.

but what if your defense ran a 3-4 and you had some pillars there on the D-line but jack and shite everywhere else?

are you going to tell me in today's NFL that would be good enough?

fwiw, the Saints boasted one of the best defenses in the late 80's/early 90's with a bad arse squad known as the Dome Patrol.

maybe you've heard of them.

those LB's carried that defense on its their back and they ranked pretty high for a good stretch there. They just never had a reliable offense when it counted.

Defense starts upfront. A great dline helps hide the defencies in the linebacking core and dbs. If you run a 3-4 defense, then maybe but those outside linebacker can normally play end in the base 4-3.

What's up with this "Would you rather?" It should be "Would you rather have.." I've seen other people use that same language lately and it drives me nuts.
