the Texans cant afford the Romo deal so it is moot point

if any team would trade for Romo it would be Cleveland

Cleveland sends their #4 pick to Dallas for Romo would make a lot more sense

Cleveland can absorb Romo's salary, he becomes the face of the franchise and returns to the midwest to play with Josh Gordon

Dallas gets the Browns #4 pick, couples their #16 pick with the #4 to Houston for the #1 pick and takes Manziel

Houston falls back to #4 and #16 and takes best available

Jerry Jones is sticking with Jason Garrett and Romo as long as they're making the most money in the NFL off of merchandise.

not no but hell no. Tony (not an elite qb) will be better then JFF will ever be. Not sure JFF would be good enough to lace romo's shoes

Absolutely. A win-win for both teams

Houston gets a vet QB, and Dallas gets a prime time star (though whether he pans out remains to be seen) who they have to pay way less than Romo.

Worst case for Dallas, they don't make the playoffs, which is becoming a rarity nowadays anyway, but enjoy free cap space and ticket/jersey/merchandise sales out the arse for 3 or so years before shipping him off for a 3rd rounder

Cowboys would be pushed to over 20 million OVER the cap for 2014 while getting to a projected 20 million free for 2015 (according to Over the Cap). But then you have to factor in JFF's contract which is the #1 pick. So the Cowboys could basically NEVER get under this year's salary cap and who knows how much space they'd have next year.

Please explain. I figured that in that situation, tony's contract would simply be absorbed by the Texans, so how would it put them over in 2014? #1 pick's contract is a hell of a lot less than Romo's.

I see this as a win-win situation for the cowboys.

In the immediacy, yes. Anything that lets them unload Romo's contract is a win. However, what happens if Manziel falls flat on his face(possible), and Romo led-Houston makes a deep run in the playoffs(less likely, but still possible)?

How much face does Jerry Jones lose in that situation?

I'd rather have Clowney than Manziel or Romo.

Trade Tony Romo to the Houston Texans for the first pick in the draft. Use that pick to draft, yes, Johnny Football.

This would be dumber than firing Jimmie Johnson.

If I were the Texans I would take Clowney and then take a QB with my following pick. Or I would trade back in and grab a QB in the late first.

I get that the Cowboys are dysfunctional and that doesn't help, but it's still a black mark. I just don't trust him.

There was/is no quarterback short of maybe Manning going into Dallas and winning in that circus of an organization.

If I were Dallas, I would not go through with this trade scenario.

As a fan, I'd love to see Romo traded to Houston. I think he'd do well there.

I firmly believe the Cowboys will never win with Romo. I've seen a large enough sample size to come to this conclusion.

Best case scenario: JFF pans out. Cowboys win Super Bowl.

Worst cast scenario: JFF is a failure of an NFL QB, the Cowboys can begin to rebuild sooner rather than later when Romo's career is over. So they get a 5 year head start on rebuilding and get to dump off that ridiculous contract to the Texans.

That would be a good look because you get to suck for a year fire Garrett hire McDaniels and have a top 2015 draft pick
