Would the NBA of today tolerate a player like Dennis Rodman?

The league seems so corporate today. Everyone has handlers and players for the most part all behave the same. During those Bulls years he was a real star but he was totally the antithesis of an NBA personality. He was so avant garde.

Ron Artest is probably the closest I can think of.

He would be the Beastmode of the NBA.

I was watching the 30 for 30 on Detroit and damn that was some rough basketball.

He led the league in rebounds or was 2nd sometimes.

he was Shaq-bad from the free throw line.
He was a net plus.

Rodman would get called for technicals in key moments, but for many games, his rebounding would provide the winning edge.

I can only answer the question by saying if I were a GM I would sign him. I would assign Rick Barry to teach him how to shoot free throws and require that he learn to do it and use it in games and he would get a 2 million dollar bonus if he shot 80% from the free throw line.

Take a look at how hard they shite on Demarcus Cousins and while he's had his moments on the court he's pretty stable compared to Rodman off the court. The fact that Cousins needed someone to get injured just for him to make the All-Star squad says it all.

Rodman is so 90s

I'd love to see his college tape. He had pretty good offensive stats there IIRC. I suppose being as tall as we was it was probably a lot of put backs.

I loved Dennis Rodman as a kid. He was the kind of player any kid who wants to contribute to a team should emulate. Play at max speed, rebound, loose balls, defense and you can help a team to victory. Just don't do all the other bad stuff.

Now we just get Chris Paul flopping all over the place and fake tough guys like Dwight Howard crying himself to sleep at night.

Today, this would be a half season suspension. Can you imagine the media blowback if a player did this?

He'd get destroyed by media.

Him and Barkley are two players you wonder how the hell did they ever average 18.7 (rodman) and 14.6 (barkley) rpg

I don't see it. Yes Westbrook dresses like a madman but that seems the bit forced as opposed to it being Rodmans true personality.
