Cubs traded Josh Donaldson for Rich Harden. It was a good trade at the time.

That Jose DeLeon trade was later...maybe 1988 or so. White Sox got Lance Johnson who was a pretty good player for them.
However how the White Sox got de Leon in the first place was the real howler of a trade. In 1986 GM Hawk Harrelson sent Bobby Bonilla to the Pirates for DeLeon!

Was that really a bad trade? It served its purpose for both sides. The Tigers got a good pitcher who played lights out and won the division for them. The Braves got a prospect who turned into a great player.

Braves traded 22 year old Jermaine Dye for Keith Lockhart and Michael Tucker.
One of my least favorite Schuerholz moves by far. I also hated the Lofton trade since he was a horrible fit for Bobby's style of play but I suppose that qualifies as a "major" move.

The Saints trading Derland Moore to the Jets, a top draft pick for Richard Todd. Archie to the Oilers for Leon Gray and then acquiring Kenny Stabler and Earl Campbell. My God, those were awful moves

No mention of Nick Sabans absolutely brilliant Daunte Culpepper over Drew Brees move in 06.
The Dolphins still haven't fully recovered from that.

Pablo Sandoval, for the Sox, he was always fat and never really produced in the regular season,
he batted over .300 4 times for the Giants. best years 345 and 330.
he produced.
needs a witch doctor. dude's batting average went down when he lost weight, so he put weight back on. sad.

Yankees traded prospect Mike Lowell to the Marlins for Ed Yarnell, Mark Johnson, and Todd Noel. Lowell became expendable because Scott Brosius had a great season/post-season so the Yankees resigned him. Thus, making the top prospect in their system expendable.
The Yankees thought they were getting 3 high upside pitchers who would develop into rotation mainstays.
Lowell went on to hit 223 home runs, make 4 All-Star teams, and be a key piece on a couple of World Series teams with the Marlins and Red Sox.
