Not the supposed blockbuster that backfired just some that were to make the team better but didn't.

Examples

Cardinals in 86 trading for Jose DeLeon a 20 game loser for White Sox and signing Mike Heath

Montreal trading for Tomas Kaberlae to help the PP he goes basically scoreless and is not even offered a contract in offseason

Baltimore got next to nothing from the Cubs for Arrieta. Didn't garner much attention because at the time Arrieta was barely struggling to even stay in the bigs.

I guess Harold Baines for Sosa could be considered a bad trade.

Because the next year the White Sox gave away Sosa to the Cubs.

Stros made a pretty low profile deadline deal for Aubrey Huff in 06 and gave up Ben Zobrist who was in the minors at the time

They had to deal for Huff in part because of how bad Preston Wilson was, which is a FA signing that could qualify for this as well

during the Cubs 03 run, they traded Bobby Hill and Jose Hernandez, and received Aramis Ramirez and Kenny Lofton. Ramirez of course, is one of the most storied players in the franchise history.

that next offseason, the Cubs acquired Derrek Lee for Hee Sop Choi.

Pedro Martinez for Delino Deshields

That was a great trade for the Cardinals.

The one trade i think deserves some mention

Brett Butler to the Indians for Len Barker. Butler ends up being pretty good Barker was not.

The Texans signing Ed Reed was a disaster.

I believe the Blue Jays gave up Noah Syndergaard & Travis d'Arnaud in order to aquire R.A. Dickey.

I guess. This is kind of a difficult thread. The Harper deal was "big" then but you wouldn't hear it come up in conversation much on a busts list out side of Dallas/Tampa.

But I'll try to think of more.

An alternative to this would be someone like Thomas Jones, who didn't do much until the Bears got him. So he would be one of the best low profile FA signings.

Was dog shite for Carolina before he even got to Montreal. Just dumb by Les Habs. Everyone knew he was washed up, and I was never a fan even in his productive Toronto seasons.

Pablo Sandoval, for the Sox, he was always fat and never really produced in the regular season, he had some good playoff games and they gave him that massive contract and now his big arse is sitting on the bench eating 76 million over the next 4 years

I thought he went to Czech league because nobody in the NHL would offer

You can probably search about how mad I was about that trade. His stick looked like that plastic golf club you give toddlers, due to its size.
