I'm sure that the main reason for female sideline reporters is BECAUSE producers believe that the coaches will be more courteous than if it were a man.

I'd like to hear what male sideline reporters you guys think are great? Does it really matter who asks: "you had some problems, what halftime adjustments are you going to make?"
Personally, I'd rather see EA or Jenn Brown ask the predictable questions that the coach isn't going to really answer if the network is insistent on going through the stupid ritual.

I am so sicking tired of seeing female reports on the field. They are so out of place and ask really stupid questions. Football is a man's game and I'm sorry but female reporters shouldn't be on the field.
It's funny because I just watched an old game on classic when Lynn Swann was the sideline guy. Amazing how much more respect and attention coaches and players showed him than the female reporters today.

Why are there sideline reporters? It's not like the coaches and players that are interviewed say anything informative.

How about two:
Jill Arrington
Pam Oliver

the men usually ask stupid fricking questions also
and the coaches and players don't say anything meaningful anyway. I'd much rather watch Jenn Brown ask questions they won't answer than Andy Rooney.

I for one know what is going through players and coaches minds...so whenever the reporters ask what was going through your mind...it is a useless question to me.

This.
As a female, I think she is the one female sideline reporter that contributes anything to the broadcast. I believe the NFL players and coaches respect her as well.
Frankly, males that make hasty generalizations and lump all female reporters into one category are just going to be labeled as sexist.
There are good and bad sideline reporters no matter what they have between their legs.

...what if female sideline reporters were wearing "thong" bathing suits ?

Stopped taking your post seriously after that (or maybe after the blatant generalization of your title).

True. They know about football more than some men. Hell how long have they been in the sports business. I know it's been awhile.

Well obviously coaches are gonna respect Lynn Swann dont you think?
Its not because he's a male, its because of what he has accomplished and how he carries himself as a reporter.

Pam's about to turn 50 this year, and she's still fine as hell.

+1
Is there anyone on here who prefers Tony Siragusa (sp?) over Pam Oliver? Seriously?

I watched that one last night on Classic, as well. What a great game!
ETA: Actually, it wasn't on Classic, my bad, it was on BTN, the OSU-Miami NCG. Swann was the sideline guy for that one, too, though.

In a case like Michelle Tafoya last night, her producer undoubtedly told her to ask that question. Those "spur of the moment" interviews are tricky anyway because the person being interviewed wasn't thinking about what they would say until 10 secs beforehand.
Also, Suzy Kolber definitely knows her stuff. I was also a big fan of Melissa Stark when she was on MNF.
