Looking at their track records.

Gerry Faust at ND:
5-6
6-4-1
7-5
7-5
5-6

At Akron:
4-7
5-6
6-4-1
3-7-1
5-6
7-3-1
5-6
1-10

Bob Davie at ND:
7-6
9-3
5-7
9-3
5-6

At New Mexico:
4-9
3-8
4-8
1-1

Tyrone Willingham at ND:
10-3
5-7
6-5

At Washington:
2-9
5-7
4-9
0-12

Charlie Weis at ND:
9-3
10-3
3-9
7-6
5-6

At Kansas:
1-11
3-9
2-2

The best was Faust at Akron, and he was marginally successful at a major step down. The lesson is, Notre Dame hires really shitty coaches, and when they finally wise up and fire them, other schools shouldn't hire them.

Do any programs have a track record of producing good coaches that they fire?

La Tech fans love Skippy, and USF is still recovering from his job there.

So citing 1 off examples did South Carolina love holtz?

Does ucf love O'Leary? (Also fired)

Seems like they have double the examples of programs you are mentioning.

Loose Boltz may have gotten out before being fired, but he wasn't fired.

Never coached at ND, but he would have probably been successful.

No shite, but he never coached a game, so it's hard to judge him as a ND coach.

I don't understand it either. Generally speaking, I'm not sure why you'd want a coach who failed at any major program. If they've got their choice of top recruits and can't get the job done, what do you expect them to accomplish having to fight to get top recruits? Then again, I'm thinking as an Ohio State fan. If my team were mediocre, I'd probably be happy with the thought of someone else's scraps.

I get what you're trying to say but Skip put foundation in as he built the program from scratch.

The whole premise is ignorant because he is attacking 1 program like it's common for a program to fire coaches and for those coaches to find success. It doesn't happen like that.

Thank you. This is my point.
