Stupid is anyone who thinks this is stupid! LSU is very savvy about scheduling those kickoff games to get maximum exposure for their brand. If you notice, LSU usually plays in areas they want to recruit, but in which they don't get enough exposure. Very smart!

I already made a post on this. It's not 1960 anymore.

Yes, explain to me why it is stupid to think that there are more LSU alumni in Houston than Baton Rouge

I was going with fans at first. That would be beyond retarded to say there are more LSU fans in Houston than in BR.

If you are talking about only alums it is probably still incorrect. I would also be willing to bet there are not A LOT more in Houston than in BR.

New Orleans- major city with a huge tourist attraction. A+ facilities (superdome) LSU campus is 1 hour away. Yet the only time we play there is if we are lucky enough to make a sugar or nc game. New Orleans pumps out 5 stars like octamom poops out babies. There is no downside other than crime. But that's a problem in BR as well so we all good chillin

You say that like there aren't enough LSU fans in this area to put a good crowd in the Superdome. Playing an hour from campus and keeping money in the state is better than playing four hours away out of state.

But would LSU necessarily be one of the teams? Wouldn't they like to bring in more out of state $$? The kick-off games in Dallas and Houston don't always include an in-state team. I'd love a kick-off game in NO if LSU is in it, but would hate it if not.

I would love to see this. Can you imagine our drunk arse fans on Bourbon Saturday night after the game with all of our friends in for Decadence the same weekend.

What a sight that would be.

My guess is that its right during the peak of hurricane season.

Houston is just as much of a risk as New Orleans.

The most recent hurricane to threaten the USA over the Labor Day weekend was Hurricane Edouard in 1996. And that was on the upper East Coast.

There was actually a thread on this a while back

LINK

Per capita would easily be BR. The ISDS department at LSU was telling lies a few years ago if it isn't true.

6 million people in greater Houston vs. 800,000 in greater BR. LSU is everywhere around here

I didn't see one single person in that thread argue that BR wasn't number 1. The debate was between New Orleans and Houston.

The exact number of alums in a city isn't out there as you saw since you obviously googled it, so it isn't even worth debating, but I feel safe in saying there is no way in hell that there are A LOT more alums in Houston than in Baton Rouge. And there is no way there are more LSU fans in Houston than in Baton Rouge.

You googled this and forgot to get an article that was written in the last decade.

Well you didn't read the thread then

nothing on this website is really worth debating.

I feel safe in saying that by sheer #'s alone, Houston wins. We're comparing the 4th largest city in the country to a 800,000 person metro area. Then when you take into account the % of people who actually have graduated in each city, the gap becomes even wider

I would say around 75-90% of the people in my graduating class left BR. You can throw a rock and hit an open job in Houston

It wasn't too hard to remember the last hurricane to rape BR hit on Labor Day in 2008.

Just out of curiosity, how are you defining "fans?" Because even if every person in the Baton Rouge metro area was an LSU fan, it'd only take 15% of the population of the Houston metro area to surpass Baton Rouge.

I actually read the thread just fine. Only one person actually mentioned Baton Rouge after the OP. The debate in question was between New Orleans and Houston.

How long have you lived in Houston?

I would say around 75-90% of the people in my graduating class left BR.

WTF? How many people are you claiming to know in your graduation class to make this comment?
Even still you are claiming 10-25% stayed in Baton Rouge. Out of that 75-90% how many came to Houston as opposed to Atlanta, Dallas, Lafayette, New Orleans, Austin, etc. etc?
