There are so many SEC v. BiG bowl tie-ins Im not sure if it would happen. Id like and SEC v. whichever conference we dont play in bowls much. Maybe Pac 10? Just that the attendance for them is low, mostly.

I'd be all for making Ole Miss bros travel to Piscataway to see an L though.

Why would they abandon their annual SEC v. SoCon Challenge every November?

Because the SEC is the only conference that scehdules shite teams to breakup the conference schedule during the season

FYI, LSU OOC opponents of note already on the books:
2019: @ Texas
2020: Texas
2021: @UCLA
2024: UCLA
2025: @Clemson
2026: Clemson
2027: @Oklahoma
2028: Oklahoma
2029: ASU
2030: @ASU

They still have openings in 2022 (1 OOC scheduled) and 2023 (2 OOC scheduled)

Such a shame the most complete team ever couldn't even make it to the game against us.

We play the B1G every year in bowl games. We also play the ACC n Big 12.

I’d like to see some SEC vs the PAC12. We don’t have any bowl tie-ins with them.

LSU vs Oregon in 2011 was the last time I can remember 2 top tier teams playing each other

Edit

I completely forgot about Oregon/Auburn. My bad

Oregon should get props for scheduling good SEC teams

Isn't college football out of conference schedules typically set years in advance? That makes it much more difficult to have a yearly conference challenge based on record like they do in college basketball.

Because football schedules aren't constructed like basketball schedules

I'd like to rotate it each year. Pac-12, Big XII, Big Ten, ACC.

We don't want to take away from your annual B1G/MAC Challenge to open the season

Yes, but if there was a conference challenge then the spot would be guaranteed which is why they are scheduled so far in advance.

Opening weekend could be reserved for it with say LSU knowing that 2020 they would be home and 2021 they would be away. The matchups could be decided in May or July to ensure proper tiers

I doubt any conference wants to go 1vs1 2vs2 with the SEC as our top 4-5 are always better than any other conference.

You are continually missing the point.

As a fan, these games would be fun to watch.

But as a coaching staff, you're job is to make the playoffs.

Without scheduling a Big 10 (or SEC opponent in the Big 10's case) either tOSU or LSU (for example) could make the CFP by simply winning out with their current scheduling format.

Adding a top 10 team to your already tough schedule draws no benefit and massively increases your chances of missing the CFP.

Good for the fans, but if I was a coach with my job on the line, there's no reason to schedule this way.

Michigan backed out on our game.

Pussies.

They did the same thing to us after we went up there in 1965 and whipped their arse. They have a history of this.

We want Indiana! Rutgers? Illinois? No, Purdue. Wait! Northwestern! Well, hello Maryland.

Games LSU has played against the Big 10 all time:
Illinois 2001 sugar bowl
Indiana 3x's last time in '78
PSU once in 2009 bowl game
Wisconsin home and home recently.
OSU in 2007 and '87
MSU in '95
Iowa in 2004 and 2013
Nebraska in '86 and a few times before that.

I would absolutely love a SEC/BIG10 challenge in football. I would love to get to visit Camp Randall and the Horseshoe and the Big House and be the lone purple in a white out.

Hell i think the games should be played in October/November, not early September.

Would be awesome for college football.
I think you'd have to say LSU/Bama/UF/UGA/Auburn has to match up with OSU/Michigan/PSU/Wisconsin/Iowa and if Tennessee or Nebraska ever want to get relevant again they can join that list.

B1G fans can't get over the fact that it would be in September and it's a "huge advantage" to play a southern team in the south during Summer. They usually try to counter with "Well they have to play us up here in November".

It was great to go to lambeau, but home and home would have been better.
