Either they're giving 10 yard cushions and fail to make tackles more than they should, or the rare times they man up they play like chickens with their heads cut off when the ball is in the air.

Are good DB's with sound fundamentals just too much to ask for these days?

Because it is easier to find 5 athletes that can run routes than 6 or 7 athletes that can cover.

Because rule changes have made it basically impossible to shutdown a receiver.

You're all spread out on D - can't touch the receivers but are expected to go one-on-one.

It's like covering fragile speedster in wide-open spaces with very little LB help. And if you touch the fragile receiver, he breaks as the flag comes out. Too much space, too little ability to harass and jam receivers. They just run free basically.

Op couldn't tell an anthill from his a-hole. He's blind and this is not true.

Defense as a whole is atrocious these days. All these games just have offensive players running up and down the field.

Well please enlighten us then. Make the case for how great college secondaries are, but don't just cite one or two secondaries that are outliers and act like you made a point.

Only a handful of teams can match the talent on the other side of the ball in these up-tempo spread wide open offenses.

Because you're not giving your DBs out there any real help...so you need a stud DB who could have been a stud WR. And why would you want to be a DB if you can be a stud WR?

Space, athletes and innovation on offenses the last 10 years. Plus rules and targeting and holding and can't jam or hand fight and all those patty-cake flag football regulations.

Because you cant touch the receiver after 1 yard. The sprit of the pass interference rule has gotten out of hand. It's only pass interference when the defender significantly hinders the progress of player. It's called ridiculously one sided as the defender has just as much the right to the ball as the offensive player yet they allow the offense to push off on every deep throw.

Passing offenses in college have evolved considerably over the last 10 years or so. That plus rule changes makes it a lot harder to play in the secondary.

Second. When you add physicality to the mix OL is #1, DB is #2.

Might be biased as an OL coach, but...
