Haven't read it personally, but I hear "Three and Out" by John Bacon does a great job of explaining it.

I think the fact he didn't bring Casteel with him was definitely a big factor at first with our shitty defense. I mean Greg Robinson? come on.

I was torn between whether to let him go or keep him, but then again I'm not a 60 year old alumnus paying 50 grand for suite tickets.

Didn't read all the posts on this, but I would point out that the current coach sn't exactly the greatest either.

Is Michigan being a graveyard for college football coaches?

Oh, bullshite. He recruited tons of smurfs. That's the problem. All he recruited were fricking scat backs.

Some coaches can win, and win big, at certain programs and fall on their face at other programs. He wasn't particularly welcome by the big time boosters and he didn't really set the coaching world on fire while he was there. It was a major stylistic clash over what Michigan had been built for and the boosters weren't thrilled to see a formerly competitive team nosedive.

If he had a few more years to turn the corner who knows? Still he seems to have landed in a pretty good pond so no worries.

He got run all over and they couldn't stop the pass with 6 DBs. He is a much better fit for the PAC-12

but the lack of "buy-in" by the administration that hired him didn't help in wins or recruiting

I think a mixture of these two reasons here.

Rich Rodriguez has been successful every place he's been, as an OC and a HC. The outlier is Michigan, which, at this point, looks like it says more about Michigan than it does Rodriguez.

Hence the freakout

It makes no sense to me. He was very successful at West Virginia and in his third year at Arizona, he is building a program that could win the conference already.

Jeff Casteel not coming with him to coach the defense was a killer...he's with him now at Arizona, you saw how good he can be last night. I think Casteel stayed at WVU because he thought he might be the head coach their eventually.

QB was tough too, he had abunch of pocket passers who couldnt move at all, he was in his third year at Michigan before Denard was fully the guy. Rich Rod is a great coach, Michigan effed up there.

I agree 100%, look at Brady H. now, he is on the hot seat and he is a "Michigan Man". Rich Rod has won from coast to coast at not the eaiest places such as West Virginia, the upset last night came as no surprise to me, in fact it's like his third one if I am not mistaken...

Rich rod ran meatchicken the only way he knew how. Like west Virginia.
He recruited like he did in WV. got the players he could get at WV, and ran the offence like he did at WV.
that didn't work with the players that were left after Carr.
PLUS Tressel did manage to put a fence around Ohio. Michigan high school football cannot produce enough top talent. UM needs Ohio kids.
