Not really. Those Bulls teams, despite revisionist history, were LOADED. Especially the second three-peat. I've posted that squads credentials before. It's ridiculous.

Not really sure they were loaded, but I can get behind the idea that the 1999-2002 Lakers were bad outside of Shaq and Kobe.

Their peak might be higher than anyone else though.

I always felt like Horace Grant was a great player who never really got his due.

He was a good player during the first three peat, but he never really got back to those numbers when he left Chicago.

The only time those two received significant contributions from their supporting cast was the 2001 playoffs and we all saw what happened there.

Exactly. Bulls role players >>> Lakers role players. I don't really view Jordan/Pippen as a duo in the same light as Shaq/Kobe. I mean, was Pippen ever a top 5 player at any point in his career?

Yeah, it is hard to find two individuals who carried their team more than Shaq/Kobe. Jordan and Pippen bring quite a bit of versatility to any team, and their track record is incredible, but they didn't as much of the load as Shaq/Kobe.

Sure, in 1994 for sure, and he was in that echelon in 1995 and 1996.

To be fair, Kobe wasn't a top 5 player during the 3 peat either. His rise into that stratosphere coincided with the decline of Shaq and no more championships.

Is it Jordan-Pippen or Shaq-Kobe? Van Gundy's said Steph-KD but that's ridiculous at this point

I agree in the sense that I don't think anyone takes Steph/KD over the other 2 combos you mentioned.

But I think they have #3 on lock. The reigning back to back MVP...and he's not even the best player on his team. That's pretty crazy.

ETA: Forgot about Kareem/Magic, i'll put Steph/KD at 4.

Kobe/Shaq. Two top 5 players of all time.

IMO you can't really rank Steph-Durant yet. They haven't even finished they're first season together. I would wait to see what they do first

That's certainly fair.
