Who is under more pressure on Sunday - Cleveland or Golden State?

Has to be Golden State, right? They're on the verge of letting a 3-1 lead in the Finals collapse. Validation for their 73 win regular season is on the line. Surely they've got more to lose than a Cav team that wasn't favored in the series and is playing with house money to some extent at this point.

Even if you break the pressure down to Golden State vs. LeBron, I think it has to still be Golden State. The pressure is on LeBron to play a good game, but as long as he doesn't suck, he's got a great shot at Finals MVP and 2-5 is not much worse than 2-4 when you've played the way he has this series. Don't get me wrong, he has a ton to gain on Sunday, but I just don't think he has as much to lose as Golden State.

If the Cavs lose, LeBron's performance takes the backseat to another Finals loss.

If the Warriors lose, their 73 wins will become a "yeah, but..." every time it comes up. Curry and Klay will lose much of the cache they've built up this year, and Green's dumbassery will be criticized even further since he may have cost his team Game 5 and the series.

It's still CLE

LBJ came back to win a title , period. GS already has a ring. If they win, they get two rings, whoopty-do. GS has already been to the top. This is all lagniappe for them.

LBJ has to win .

Lebron is under more pressure than anyone else on either side. He still has the "never won a title as the lead dog" cloud hanging over his head as many still argue Wade was the alpha in Miami.

The Warriors have already won a title as currently constructed, their stars and their style have already been validated. If they lose, they still won a title last year playing the same type of basketball.

It's game 7 of the Finals. They both have enough pressure on them that it doesn't matter who has more

Warriors going through game 7 last series has to help

Even if all of that is true, it doesn't address what happens if they lose. If they lose, their 73 wins take a huge dent. Hell, their title last year loses a little luster as it is apparent that Kyrie Irving's loss was huge.

I think most would agree that a win does more for Cleveland/LeBron than it does for GS, but I think a loss is more detrimental to GS than it is for Cleveland/LeBron.

some people think golden state still has to validate last year's title, considering the "luck" they got when cleveland wasn't at full strength

Their is some truth to that statement ;however, Golden State needs to validate everything they accomplished this year.

They would be the first NBA team to break the regular season win record and come up short.

Pressure is absolutely on Golden State. Everything has been going Cleveland's way lately and they blew them out in 2 games in a row. Not only would it be bad for Golden State to lose the series up 3-1 (which has never happened before), it would also be bad for them not to win a title considering they had the most regular season wins in NBA history anyway. If Golden State loses this game, their season will be a complete failure. They need to win this WAY more than Cleveland does, even though that city hasn't won anything in 50+ years.

Warriors

IMO, LeBron has done everything possible to validate his status in the league. Steph was unanimous MVP, the Warriors won 73 games and it's on their home court. At this point, the Cavs are playing with house money. The pressure is on the "better" team.

There aren't "levels of pressure" for players in Game 7 of the Finals.
