ban. He missed his prime. Lord only knows what boxing fans missed by not seeing Ali in his prime. What say the MSB?

Hell he is #1 to me. Definitely in heavyweight. Who cares about the ban. He did things with press and media that are cliche today. Had a ridiculous jab. And became a cultural icon. Positive and negative down racial lines. People will always be pissed because he didn't go to Vietnam. But shite many people didn't. If you'd have drafted me in 66' I'm going. 1969? I'm checking out Canada.

If Tyson had not imploded personally he'd be there, but his prime was very short. And all in all rape is a tad worse than draft dodging.

Tyson had incredible power in both hands but his "prime" was made up of knocking out nobodies.

Holmes was 38 and hadn't fought in almost two years, plus had lost back to back fights.

Bruno was your typical overrated British fighter who had already been knocked out twice.

Berbick was not a good fighter and he's only somewhat popular for beating a really faded Ali.

Spinks was an elite talent but he made his name at light heavyweight. He was naturally small and not ready for a powerful heavyweight like Tyson.

Again, those ^ ^ ^ are Tyson's best "prime" victories. Sure, he was exciting but let's not act like he was destroying top heavyweights.

I'll say it again, when the word overrated comes up, Tyson's name is one of the first to come to mind. People only look at the power but either ignore or forget about the horrible opposition he faced when he was at his best.

exactly, Tyson is prolly the most exciting, but the best.....not even close. He isn't even top 2 of the last 15 years of the 20th century(Lewis and Hollyfield are) and thats just talking heavyweights. But for the record, although Tyson is a crazy piece of shite, he did not rape that Robin. No Way no how.

and all of ya'll bringing up drafting dodging holding it against Ali, y'all are some dumb frick group thinking sons of bitches. How the hell was the Vietnam anything more than political BS and posturing? Not only was it that, but we were also fighting to prop up a corrupt regime.

Ali did the right thing standing up to the government that was sending our young kids over to fight in a bullshite war. Think about how many people we lost or came back messed up mentally....and for fricking what? Sure as hell wasn't for freedom, more like the almighty greenback in the name of the industrial military complex. Bunch of bullshite and frick the government for doing that to its own citizens.

All would have had to do is go to 'Nam and shake hands with troops. He could have been a hero and great for morale.

[quote]“Why should they ask me to put on a uniform and go ten thousand miles from home and drop bombs and bullets on brown people in Vietnam while so-called Negro people in Louisville are treated like dogs and denied simple human rights?

No, I am not going ten thousand miles from home to help murder and burn another poor nation simply to continue the domination of white slave masters of the darker people the world over. This is the day when such evils must come to an end. I have been warned that to take such a stand would put my prestige in jeopardy and could cause me to lose millions of dollars which should accrue to me as the champion.

But I have said it once and I will say it again. The real enemy of my people is right here. I will not disgrace my religion, my people or myself by becoming a tool to enslave those who are fighting for their own justice, freedom and equality…

If I thought the war was going to bring freedom and equality to 22 million of my people they wouldn’t have to draft me, I’d join tomorrow. But I either have to obey the laws of the land or the laws of Allah. I have nothing to lose by standing up for my beliefs. So I’ll go to jail. We’ve been in jail for four hundred years.”
