#2 on the accomplishment list, #1 on the best team list. I don't think any team in history could beat them with the way they make 3s. A team like the Bulls made under 7 threes a game, GSW over 13. That's a shite load of points to make up.

Respectfully disagree. This is a team that was on the brink of elimination. Let's not act as if they're completely unbeatable.

Ya I just can't overlook the fact that if the Thunder execute down the stretch in game 6 they would be watching the finals at home. So considering that maybe the 4th best team this year almost beat them I think it's a huge stretch to say that no team in history could beat them

That's a fair argument and why I don't have them at #1 on the accomplishments list. But clearly Curry wasn't right when they played OKC. Curry at full health playing like he played all year and they beat anyone IMO.

Bird/McHale/Chief Celtics (see my handle for clarification)

Magic Kareem Lakers

Wilt 66/67 Warriors with HOFers Chet Walker, Billy Cunningham, Guy Rodgers. Matt Guokas was a triple double machine. Jackson was a powerful rebounder. Powerful team. Could have beaten any of these other teams.

MJ Bulls

Curry Green Warriors

Walton Trailblazers

Russell Cousy Celtics

LeBron Wade Heat

any of the top several could beat any of the top several.

Some teams not on the list could beat any of the top several.

Sloan/Chet Walker Bulls lost to Wilt/West/Baylor Lakers in 7 on the last shot, lost two others in OT.

+1 Just two weeks ago this board was littered with overrated threads, and OKC is just the better team, etc. Now all of a sudden they're back to being the GOAT

Those people were mostly clowns you gotta considering the source with a lot of the stuff you're reading here. Even when down 3-1 I was really confident that GSW would win the series. An all time great team isn't gonna lose to an OKC, Their best player was hurt, they were down 3-1 and they came back and won.. That's part of what makes them great.

A team can be GOAT and still lose games to premier players. (KD/Westbrook)

Dr J won one ABA championship for the Long Island Nets.
he beat the all time ABA perennial champ team Louisville with a hot series. Dr J was hitting jumpers from the corner with the games on the line. You had to honor his drive to the hole. Ok. He hit from the corner. Nothing you can do when a guy like that is hot.

Guys who complain that a team lost to KD/Westbrook probably never played hoops. I have. If you are having a great day no one can stop you.
Period.
Guys used to get mugged. That is the way the old NBA worked. You killed someone. That would slow them down. We don't have much of that now, so Curry can play for a few years until his ankle won't go anymore.

Its like when J.T. Snow would get on a hot streak and be hitting over .400 for a week with homers or doubles every day. Someone would hit him with the ball. Worked like a charm. After he recovered from his injury, he might not get the swing back until the next season.

exactly

the 7-game series helps contain outlier performances, but sometimes you're the 2006 mavs and you run into god-mode Dwayne Wade

its a thing of beauty when it happens.

Mavs had their own god-mode star on fire: Dirk won them one.

I remember the quote from the Serbian team captain after they won the world championship. Q: "When was it when you realized that you guys could win the world championship?" A: When Peja Stoyakovich said he would play with us.
If a great player is on, they win. (USA finished 7th in that one) Argentina was the big dog.

Definitely high on the list. The 1962-63 Celtics had TEN Hall of Famers, which at least merits consideration for best team ever. The 66-67 76ers were similarly loaded, and had Wilt.

The Jordan Bulls, of course (and Steve Kerr had a better 3 pt % than even Curry... just saying). The fo fo fo Sixers were amazing, and swept through the playoffs. The Showtime Lakers were pretty great. The Popovich Spurs, though its hard to pick just one team, as they were more consistently great.

That's pretty much the whole list of contenders. They are in rarified air.

I will continue to assert that for the younger generation that didn't experience Jordan's Bulls team, this is the best team they have ever seen.
