I know the game itself was absolutely meaningless, but where did it rank for you in all time sporting events/games or individual performances you have ever watched?

I'm not a laker or Kobe fan, but last night was like watching a super bowl. I don't think I've ever pulled so hard for one individual in a game in my life. that seriously might have been the most exciting individual performance I've ever watched in my lifetime.

The last 5 minutes of that lakers game was just as fun as the Villanova/unc game. along with that ncaa title game, the pats/Seahawks super bowl, last nights game was probably the best/most exciting game I've watched in the last 5 years or so.

60 is impressive. Especially at his age. But I'm not sure there is anybody in the league who couldn't score that when shooting 50 shots.

I caught a little bit of that game, but mainly watched the Warriors make history since that was far more impressive than what Kobe did IMO. And an old player, even if he's legendary, having the green light to literally jack it up every time he touched it in a completey meaningless game doesn't rank very high for me in sports. At all really. But I imagine it was amazing for a Lakers fan.

Being in L.A. likely inflates your view of the game a little.

It was a fun watch though

It probably does, but I actually hated the Kobe/shaq teams and I rooted against the lakers in the finals all the time.

I mean it was fun but it almost felt like an all-star game exhibition.

It was probably the second most fun game I've watched in the NBA this year behind Warriors-Thunder. The 4th quarter and part of the 1st quarter were awesome and it was really cool to see a legend end his career like that.

I think you're blowing the individual performance a little bit out of the water. I really don't care at all Kobe took 50 shots, because it made the game way more fun, but he was atrocious for the most part on defense, the refs bailed the Lakers out plenty of times in the 4th quarter, and the worst 3 point shooter in the league should probably never take 21 three point attempts in a game.

All that being said, I'm glad he did because it made the game awesome. For me, it's not going to rank up there with high quality playoff games in any sport.

Happy for Kobe. Most happy he won't torch my Rockets anymore.

I definitely think it's cool that Kobe got to end his career like that. And I think it we caveat the thread with "for a 37 year old," then it means more.

Watching and enjoying Kobe since he came into the league, last nights game ranked number one for me for many reasons. Seeing one of my favorite players end his legacy the way he did was special. Regardless if he shot 300 shots, the fact is he put on a hell of a ending show to a great career

It was fricking awesome.

Kobe and Deion are my two favorite athletes of all time, regardless of sport. Watching last night was everything I had hoped it would be and way more.

What got me was when all the celebrities were astonished at what they saw. Guys like Jay Z, Kanye, Snoop, and Jack stop putting up their personas and reacted like little kids was so cool to watch. Plus the buzz of the Staples Center every time he touched the ball hasn't been seen in a long time. Truly an unforgettable night and I am so happy and stayed up and witnessed it.

With regard to the Lakers offensive strategy yeah but the Jazz weren't playing soft defense imo

What's also getting lost in his 60 point performance is that he went in complete mamba mode. Utah was dominating that game and then with 5 minutes left Kobe scored the lakers next 17 points and they came back from 8 points down with 2 minutes to play.

It reminded me of those high school girls team that try to let a player score 100 points and win the game 125-14 against a team with only 4 players left on the floor.

Hey look, Kobe just had another shot attempt.

It was good stuff, but like someone already said, it had an All-Star or Globetrotter appeal to it for the most part.

The part I appreciate the most is the fact that Kobe went out the way he played his entire career - an inefficient scorer but a winner nonetheless. He is like the Brett Favre of NBA guards; you basically know what you're going to get each time he steps on the court.

For the record, almost broke his own record for the most missed FGs in a game last night with 28. His record is 30. It is only fitting for the guy with, by far, the most missed FGs in his career. He holds that title by more than 1,000 missed shots, but then again, Favre is the leader in career interceptions by quite a bit.

Reminded me of a spring football game where they give the football to the disabled kid and let him score the touchdown.
