I never watched the skateboarding one.

I started watching Marion Jones but turned it off.

I loved "Four Days in October" because I am a Red Sox fan, but it was slick, MLB-produced propaganda and therefore did not fit correctly with the "independent documentary filmmaking" feel of the rest of the series.

It's like calling an episode of "Inside the NFL" a documentary.

My 2 favorites were:

1) Vlade Divac/Drazen Petrovic
2) Luis Tiant going back to Cuba

Ghosts of Ole Miss was too overreaching and the focus got lost.

Look how racist and ugly everybody was back in 1963. But everything's better now...sort of.

Oh by the way, the football team went undefeated too.

Roll Tide/War Eagle was an abomination. Absolutely terrible representation of a great rivalry which deserved a better telling of the story. I wish HBO would do a special on the rivalry. They did a good job with the Ohio State/Michigan rivalry.

Slightly off-topic, but I wish someone would do a documentary about Joe Delaney. I think he would have been one of the all-time greats. He had great speed and was built like a truck.

I think they are doing one on the Von Erichs.

The roll tide one.. Didn't like the pistons one either

Eta: fab 5 sucked badly also. Haven't seen the little league one. The Kansas basketball one was pretty odd.. To say the least

Roll Tide/War Eagle was by far the worst
Agreed.

It was too focused on Harvey Updyke, and less about Auburn and Alabama... Also, it should have been made a couple years later. It would have been really good after the 2013 season, with Alabama winning 2 more National Championships in 2011 and 2012, and Auburn getting to the National Championship in 2013 after a 3-9 season.

The one where Chris Evert and Martina Navratilova sat together on a couch and had a conversation that boils down to the following:

1. Martina was better than Chris at tennis
2. Martina loved munching carpet
3. Chrissy loved the D
4. It never bothered Chrissy that Martina loved munching carpet because Chrissy was too busy prowling around town in search of strange D.*

*Okay, the last two I sort of made up. They're factually true, but not discussed in the doc. The entire documentary can be summed up with points 1 and 2.

Best documentary I've ever seen. I've watched it 20 times probably.

I know a lot of people like Da U, but my beef is that they usually bring a hit squad at some point in all of these, and they treated that one like a puff piece.

Two specific issues I had with the U was 1) they completely skipped over the Bama asswhipping and 2) they somehow blamed Butch Davis who almost single handily rebuilt the program after massive sanctions.

They skipped over every arse whupping. It's a puff piece, but it's entertaining.

I normally hate soccer, but I have enjoyed all of the soccer 30 for 30s. Kind of developing an appreciation for the first time in my life, thanks to that. I loved the Marcus Dupree story and the Bad Boys, also.

"9.79", Marion Jones, and Alabama/Auburn were terrible.

Agree with all your posts in this thread. 4 days in october was way too slick to be considered "independent."

I agree with lsu1992 on "The Ghosts of Ole Miss" too. ESPN wants to "bridge" that gap, yet open ancient wounds?
