Was the Janakowski thing hilarious and the Medlock situation hilarious also?
What about the JaMarcus situation?
Just wanting to know why it is hilarious?
As long as it doesn't negatively impact me complete and total incompetence will always be hilarious

the thing with seabags is that he was also obviously a luxury pick, BUT (1) people laughed and (2) they didn't laugh as hard b/c the Raiders were a goddamn shite show and that kind of crazy shite is expected of them
he turned out to be terrific.
a real weapon.

Anyone who saw him kick in college knew he wasnt that great. He never had to kick pressure kicks. Everything was close. He was a great college kicker but nothing screamed 2nd round or 3rd round pick, maybe 5th round

He's had a nice career, but how is Seabass a HOFer?

I know, but I was hoping to see the reasoning.

Not sure which is worse drafting a K in the 2nd round or trading up into the 2nd round to draft a K.
Posted on 8/23/16 at 3:27 pm to wildtigercat93
Have him get a "season ending injury" wink wink. Let him come back next season.

If you do not understand how good Janikowski is then I am sorry, you are an idiot. He is definitely one of the generations best kickers.

Who holds the most fg over 50? 52/92
Who other than Morten Anderson has multiple FG over 59?
Who has the record for longest FG in NFL (tied)
252 385 480 80.2 6-6 103-106 113-125 111-151 52-92 63 520 524 1675
He is better than Hansen, he is better than Vinaterri, he is better Akers, he is better than Carney, and he is better than Bailey.
Morten Anderson was last generation.

I'm done here. I'm not gonna argue with someone who thinks the 39th most accurate kicker is the best of his generation, when the 38 kickers more accurate than him are mostly from his generation.
Posted on 8/23/16 at 3:59 pm to monkeybutt
So accuracy is the only measure of a kicker? Well hell then I guess we should not have guys line up and try long FG's then???
Accuracy is a part of it as well as leg strength. Combine the 2 and Janikowski is the best kicker of this generation.

Off-topic but had a thought today that doesn't quite seem worthy of it's own thread.
If I were an NFL coach, I'd use a preseason game to "surprise" the team with an injury to the starting kicker. For example, sometime early in the game, say the kicker is no longer available for the game and go with the emergency kicker (whether that's the punter, backup QB, etc.).
Since you only have one kicker on the active roster during the regular season and they have to make tackles on kickoffs (along with new concussion protocol), it seems like it's only a matter of time that a team's emergency kicker would be needed. Better to see how the team would react in that situation during the preseason.

Isn't the goal of a kicker, to ya know, make kicks?
Other guys have done it at a better rate, it's going to be ok.
