It's frustrating bc he isn't that interested in it, but he ends up having fun if I make him
I bet that'll get him to want to go more

How many of you "teach" your kids how to play? Do you feel like you are doing them a service "teaching" them the game of golf? Are you "teaching" them correctly or just trying your best?
Not a dad, but mine would pick me up after work during the week from when I was 3 or so and walk 9. I'd tag along with him. He'd let me hit a few and once a week or so I'd go to the range with him. By the time I was 5 or 6 I was riding in the cart with him each weekend.
It was never really "forced" on me, I guess. Just learned by doing what dad always liked to do...

I will teach my kids the game starting from the greens back to the tee. Everything that I should've done, I'll make it fun for him/her so they'll love doing what molds a solid player. They'll probably be more interested in killing animals though

I am going through this now. My son will be a high school senior this year and never wanted to play golf until last summer. He hit wiffle balls in the yard for a while then went to the range. I tried to teach him the proper grip and basics of the swing but he keeps griping it exptremely strong (right hand turned way under). We play a few times a month when he doesn't have soccer workouts (usually at Barriere or Bartholomew in NOLA since they aren't expensive and pretty wide open). He can hit the driver 280-300 legit when he catches it but usually he hits ugly duck hooks. It's frustrating since he won't listen or hold the club properly. I bought him one of those clubs with the grip that forces you to hold it correctly. If he decides to keep playing once he graduates I'll pay for him to get lessons but right now his time is so limited it isn't worth it.

My plan for my kid (whenever that happens) is to introduce them to golf, teach them the game, get them a lesson or two, and see how they like it. If they like it and want to keep playing, than I'll do what I can to teach them the correct swing, get them to play everyday, and stuff like that

When I was little my dad would tell my mom he was bringing me to "play golf" then he would drop me off at the range with my little junior set and tell me I could only be there or in the clubhouse. I would ask people on the range who the best golfer out there was, then I would walk over and hit golf balls right next to them. I learned by the art of imitation
ETA: luckily Rob Noel was at Money Hill, so there was no shortage of touring pro's and great golfers out there to mimick.

My dad has probably played maybe three rounds of golf in his life.
I always wanted to try the game, I just never had the chance to really play until I was in college. No fault of my dads, just wasn't his cup of tea. He was gonna come ride the cart with me this weekend, but I ended up going too early with a family friend. Hopefully he will soon though.
I figure my son/daughter will end up playing the game pretty early since I will most likely be a golf course superintendent.

If I had a kid I'd sign a lifetime deal with Greta or Terry.

My wife wants our kids to play baseball. I'm like "hell no you are not fricking with their golf swing like that"

Went to him for a lesson one time and never went back. He gets all up in your face and he always has a dip in. That shite made me sick to my stomach and I wanted to throw up the entire lesson

I've only had one lesson in my life. Everything else has come from my dad.

My wife is gonna have to control me. I'll want my kid to do everything (except soccer and basketball, not my sports). Wrestling, football, golf, and baseball.

I've had zero lessons in my life. Everything has come from swing critiques on TigerDroppings and lots of trial and error.
