He's the second best defensive player in football and almost single handedly won both the AFC Championship game and the SB. He deserves it.

And I don't disagree with any of that. I just wouldn't want to be the one paying him 20 million. Not saying that he isn't worth it. Paying big time for Pass rushers doesn't have a long history of working out too well.

So are most filthy rich people. Some are nice who happened to hit a gold mine, but most got that rich because they value money over people or being a nice guy

Currently being held under the franchise tag. So would think he'd be there one more year. I could see them showing him the door. 20+M is a lot of dough but he is a defensive playmaker!

You should hit the street corners and panhandle for all the poor owners who are getting held hostage.

Actually the people being held hostage are everybody who doesn't give a shite about the NFL who has to pay more for products because companies pay the ad rates and has to pay more taxes because local govts buy the bullshite overvaluing new stadiums to the public at large.

Elway is a shrewd dude. This could get ugly if after all that time, that's as high as he's gone and he's already leaking stuff to the media.

Deadline is July 15th. He'll probably play out the tag. He won't sit out the season but he wouldn't be the first to sit out the first six games and then play the final 10 in order to accrue a year towards the contract

Can you explain that better?

the Broncos leaked the offered terms to the media on Wednesday, which might "seem to be an effort to put Miller in less-than-flattering light."
I see it the other way. 38.5 in guarantees is well below the market rate.

They didn't get you, but the Broncos got Peej to see that greedy bastard in a less than flattering light!

Yeah he clearly deserves more than that guaranteed. It paints the Broncos in a bad light IMO and makes them look either cheap or dumb

Was Miller paid for the games he had to sit out while suspended for his own stupidity? A serious question.

While Von deserves to be one of the highest paid defensive players in the league, if not the highest, paying guys out the arse like this is something good front offices are starting to avoid more and more.

Just not worth it anymore to put 20% of your cap into one guy. ETA: Unless it's a QB of course.

Just pro sports in general... These players hold the teams HOSTAGE and demand an unreal amount... ZERO athlete is worth what they are asking when it comes to contracts over the so called $100 million mark....

This is hilarious. I don't blame him one bit. Teams backload contracts with little guarantee just so they can frick the player over in year 3 when their production drops.

I hope he gets paid like a sumbitch.

Lower the total value to $95 million, lower the years to 6, guarantee $55, sign deal, prosper.

Yeah good luck with that

quote:

ESPN's Ed Werder reports franchise-tagged OLB Von Miller want the Broncos to fully guarantee the first three years of his contract. The two sides have reportedly agreed to a six-year, $114 million deal, but negotiations have hit a snag over guarantees and cash flow. After negotiating through the media for a day with ridiculous reports of pulling contract offers and sitting out the entire season, the two sides should get back to work to bridge what looks like a small gap. July 15 is the deadline for a long-term deal.

don't be jelly of athletes PJ. The leagues make billions of dollars, no reason the players should not get what they can get.
