Will Novak lose a set? Don’t think he’s ever won a slam without dropping a set.

I think I he is like +800 not to drop a set. That is crazy talk to me for grass. Someone should get him into a breaker and it's a lot of luck from there. He does have a huge advantage against most with his return, though.

I need some longshots. Thinking Opelka. There has to be some Lleyton Hewitt or David Nalbandian type counterpuncher who can do well.

I love Benny P. He is fiya when he is on and can give anyone fits. But, he can't stay interested for 3 out of 5 over two weeks. Speaking of which, has Nick even played tennis this year? I like Shapo, but his groundies may be a bit too loopy for the grass. Kohli is a tough first round for him. Tsitsi/Foe is a nice first round match.

I put $50 on Alex at 14-1. Huge opportunity for someone out of him/Berrettini/FAA/Isner to get to the semis. Mannarino played well this week and could beat Roger. The bottom half seems kind of weak, though, so Roger might cruise to the semis if he gets through that.

Yeah Paire was a joke. He couldn't win a slam if he could choose all 7 opponents.

Nick hasn't played since that 5-setter he lost to Thiem at AO. At least we know his thumbs will be in fine form with all that gaming.

I'd be lying if I said that Kohli price didn't grab my attention. I guess there really is no end to Shapo being overrated. He's been around since 2017 and still only has 1 ATP title (Stockholm 2019).

I took Robbie Bats to win the 2nd quarter at 10/1. Just can't trust Shapo/Murray/De Minaur/Khachanov, and I think he can beat Shitpants on grass.

As for actual longshots, Cilic could make a little noise and 66/1 isn't bad. Bovada has Isner at 1000/1 (lol) with a max of $10. Big Sam Q and Big Kev are both 350/1 too. Think we would need a Novak injury to have a shot either way.

Bookmaker has this at 21/1

Cilic was arse in 2018 and 2019, but I had forgotten how good he was on grass before that. Three QF's and a Final and all losses were to Novak and Roger.

I'm too lazy to look through that, but didn't he blow a 2-0 set lead to Federer on grass at some point?

Yeah 2016. Then he had that crying/blister debacle in the 2017 final.

ETA: Think I'm gonna dig up that 2017 Wimbledon thread for shits and giggles... but mostly giggles.

This was after Cilic lost the 1st set and nobody knew what the hell was going on. LINK

Also lost a 5-setter in a final against Roger in Australia.

I guess it wouldn't be crazy to say he is the most underrated player of his generation. Maybe underrated isn't the right word... Perhaps the most accomplished player of this era that people won't remember? He will probably have 20 singles titles before it is all said and done, three slam finals, including winning a slam title basically in the heart of the Big Four in 2014.

I suppose the argument against would be that he "only" has 5 semifinal appearances in slams in his career. But semi appearances weren't exactly growing on trees when the Big Four had it going.

I think I am going to put a little money on a bunch of dogs in the first round. Paire, Tiafoe, Kohlschreiber, Pella, Mannarino, Fritz, Kyrgios.

Norrie against Federer in the 3rd round could be an interesting match.
