I love some Enberg Dick. Can't say it the other way around.

Courier is a good dude. A very intellectual and cultured guy. Looking back on that, it was all class. I never liked Pete's fatigue/sickness act, but the thing with Gullikson was genuine.

Agassi choke at Paris in 1990 was one thing, but the rain delay and meltdown to Courier the next year was another for a fanboy. I thought he would never get the chance to win again, which is why 1999 was so huge.

Opelka up a break in the second in qualies.

Courier is historically underrated. Maybe the best "baseline basher" ever. He hit every ball as hard as he could. I think his natural ability was much less than Agassi and Sampras but mentally he was tough as nails.

One of my favorite Courier moments was the QF of the '96 French against Sampras. Sampras was sick and exhausted and dry heaving and still serving up bombs.

On match point, with Sampras looking like he's about to die, Courier is so pissed about Sampras serving so well that he backs away from the baseline before receiving serve and says, loud enough for the mics to pick up:
quote:

The guy's in his grave and he's fricking serving bullets. 109 mph bullets. LINK

Sampras then aces him on match point.

6'11 Opelka draws 5'11 Goffin.

Rubin and Fratangelo got screwed having to play each other, and the winner faces Fed.

The Day 1 Schedule just came out too.

Nick Kyrgios da gawd is the only reason why I'm going to watch the Australian Open this year.

They say Agassi would give Courier routine beatings at Bolletieri.

Maybe so but Courier went 7-5 against Agassi in ATP matches.

While reading this Courier talk, the extent of the drought in American men's tennis is finally starting to hit me. Without Googling, I'm guessing Roddick was the last guy in the top 5, and Isner couldn't have been in the top 10 for long, if at all. It's kinda sad that kids these days will have no memories of great American players or rivalries.

Yep Halep just lost.

I've got +2500 on Svitolina so that is nice.

You got screwed on that one. I got Svitolina +3700 and Kasatkina +5200, so I enjoyed that too. Hoping Muguruza falls too.
