Draw has been released.
LINK

The men's tour is in a weird state. Djokovic's dominance seems to be fading, but he has won this tournament six times. Murray is atop the sport, but it doesn't seem like it will be for a long time. He has five runner-up trophies in Melbourne. Young guns like Zverev and Thiem appear ready to break through. Roger is probably going to fall off the shelf. We'll see what happens if he gets Berdych in the third round, if that's how I read the draw.

No idea what to expect on the women's side. I think Azarenka had a baby. Masha is still out. Serena actually played a prep tournament. Poor Kvitova got shanked. I guess Kerber's the favorite?

Looks like Tiafoe and Smyczek have a steel cage match to get in the main draw. The Worm is one match away from qualifying at 38. Just caught some of Taylor Townsend, she is as large and in charge as ever.

Time for the "Happy Slam," as the players call it. Tournament begins 7:00 eastern Sunday night in the U.S.

Isner does droopy dog 2nd round vs the Spaniard and I go into irrational and incomprehensible rant on Isner. This rant will call him gutless and heartless among other things.

tricky first opener for Djokovic, verdasco had him dead to rights with 5 match points at Doha last week.

from where it was, sure. But he's still pretty dominant. 65-9 last year, 7 titles, 2 grand slams.

Yeah definitely tricky for a first round, but I don't see verdasco outlasting him in a best of 5 on HC.

I consider Djokovic the favorite. He looked great against Murray recently in Qatar. PJ - if Federer wins the tournament that would be truly amazing. And awesome. I just don't see it. On the women's side my dark horse to win it is Johanna Konta.

I always love it when Serena plays herself into shape at the Australian.

Nadal Baghdadis 2nd round match will be fun except for the butt digs. Anytime Baghdadis gets rolling we will have a 5 minute exploratory digging session.

Sascha Zverev and Nadal third round will be awesome. That winner should get to the semis IMO, even over Raonic.

Steve Johnson and Isner had a nice little third set tiebreak street fight yesterday in Auckland. Kind of dumb of them to be blowing their wad the week before the tournament, but I guess they feel they need the match play.

With the rankings jacked up, the draw turned out surprisingly well balanced, except for Joker getting a very easy path to the final. The only bold prediction I have is Bautista beating Zverev in the quarters after knocking out Raonic.

5Dimes has Joker OR Murray to win the title at -269. I would think only injuries or god-mode Stan could prevent that from happening.

Good interview with Rafa.

Sock and one of the two Joao Sousas on tour are playing for the Auckland title right now. Sock is up a set.

Sunday Late Night is when it starts? Is Directv doing its Major channel coverage again?

I think 7:00 pm eastern on Sunday = 11:00 a.m. Melbourne start. Not sure what is going on with DirecTV. I think ultimatehog used to post about that grand slam mix. I am a comcrap hostage. Between Tennis Channel and ESPN2, most everything should be covered.

There he is.

Yeah, just watched that qualies tiebreak. Nice poise from Opelka. Worm and Tiafoe are in. Rampras and Melzer have a journeyman battle for a spot.

Credit to you for this. Ridic.

My most memorable Aussie momonet. This moment made me a quasi Courier fan

Him beating Agassi in Paris in 89/90 also

But everyone knows I'm a bigly hugely Pistol Pete fan, to me he is the 2nd GOAT behind Laver.
