You think so? Team conflict brewing a la Froome v. Wiggins?

I hate tomorrow's finish though. Downhill for miles after the three big climbs

Short stage=crazy attacking

The route in general though is just terrible. The Giro is a far better race at this point. ASO has completely watered down the course.

Awesome finish. Looking at the layout for today's stage, I knew it would be great. First stage I watched from start to finish without skipping through any parts. Didn't disappoint. I love those summit finishes. This is the kind of stage you watch the tour for. Hoping for another couple stage finishes like today. I know Froome smoked the other contenders in the first time trial, but that was on fresh legs. I'm wondering how much time Aru needs on him to hang on.

A couple of things:

1. I heard Quintana is quitting cycling and potentially trying another sport. LINK

2. The stage tomorrow is only 62-ish miles?? That's going to be fricking WILD!

was going to make the joke "no wonder he sucked today" in that thread but I figured no one would get it.

Watching Froome do the paperboy that last 200 meters made me laugh out loud in the office while the ZZ Top song "Got Me Under Pressure" was in my head. Glad we have a race...thought the tour might be over after most of the way through the stage today.Thought Froome was ready to smash but the wall was not a quick cadence type climb and Froome wasn't great today. Bigger gear and just throw your weight on the peddles type climb. Glad I was wrong. The course tomorrow is deceiving and may bring about some racing with sky not having to chase and they may send people up the road. Hoping for something interesting and some racing.

Great stage today.

I don't see a Landa vs Froome controversy. 5(?) years ago Froome would have destroyed Wiggins and won the Tour, he rode away from him with plenty of Tarmac ahead and did it twice. Landa followed the leaders with 300m left completely different.

Great to see the Tour are being biased as ever. First with Demare not being penalised for cutting people up when he took green. Today Uran and Bennett get Penalised 20seconds for taking bottles inside 10km, while Bardet gets away Scot free. Joke

So what is Aru's strategy going forward?

I don't think his team is anywhere near strong enough to lead him to the finish.

Does he continue to sit on Froome's wheel and adopt Sky as his pseudo-team. Does Froome sit on Aru's wheel and attack when he can?

Can Aru only defend at this point or does he have a realistic option - mountain stages aside - to increase his lead?

Aru needs more time imo. Even a weakening Froom will take time in Marseille from Aru. The Frenchman, whom may have gotten a French ruling today, also has the same problem. Uran would fair ok but he needs time as well. They must blow Froome up again to have a real chance. It could happen...then there's that other sky dude!

You're right about Landa...he could not help Froome on that stretch of the climb. Nothing but everyone for themselves at the end.

Sherwood has become the Sky apologist hasn't he?

Sherwood has become unbearable last 3 years.
